Did you know what a charter school is?

It is a public school operated by a group of parents, teachers and/or community members:
In the 1996 a group of people led by Kay May coordinated the opening of Crown Pointe Academy. Since that date the school has grown from a K-5 to a K-8, from one class per grade level to 2 classes per grade level. Built a building and moved to its current location in 2010. This growth was all guided by parents

and community members. The playground was built in 2011, by parents under the guidance of professionals. This school has been proud of the parent involvement, parents in the classroom, driving the student on fieldtrips and many other helpful things. Parent must apply to the charter school, the school district will not assign student to the charter school:
This means that Crown Pointe Academy is a school of your choice, where you choose to enroll your child(ren) to attend. When you signed the contract to have your child attend Crown Pointe Academy you and your child(ren) agreed to the rules. This includes the uniform, volunteer hours, and the commitment with helping your child(ren) at home with school work, keeping up on reading logs and helping with homework and projects as needed. Crown Pointe Academy feels that the education of your student is a partnership, the teachers, you, the parent and your child to have the best education experience. A charter school operates under a charter (or contract) between the charter school and its authorizer, either a local school district or the Colorado Charter School Institute:
The current charter is with Adams County School District #50. Through this charter Crown Pointe Academy has waivers, this allows Crown Pointe Academy to teach Core Knowledge curriculum. These waivers also let Crown Pointe Academy to have more flexibility with the fiscal management and overall school operations.

CPA couldn’t be prouder! Way to go Aubriana!!!!

Aubriana competed against 94 other student across the country and internationally. While she didn’t place as a finalist she represented our school and state well. Her website on Henrietta Lacks and the He-La: Innovation, Ethics, and Medical Progress was truly an eye opening look into the He-La cell revolution, the reaction toward inequality in medical treatment, and the reform of informed consent for medical procedures. Out time in Washington DC has been an experience full of learning and experiencing so many of the things that make the US what we are today. A highlight of the trip was visiting the Library of Congress, the website of which I I encourage all students to do much of their National History Day research through.

Thank you to all who made this experience possible for Aubri. Special shout out to Mrs. Hughes for inspiring our students and attending this trip with her!

🎶 Huge congratulations to the Crown Pointe Academy Band! 🎶

Our talented musicians absolutely crushed it at the Music in the Parks Festival! Not only did they represent CPA with incredible professionalism, but they also brought home a Superior Rating with an impressive average score of 91.75! 🏆

To put that into perspective, our students jumped from an 88.5 (Excellent) last year to a 91.75 (Superior) this year. That is some serious hard work and growth! 📈

Due to a category mix-up at the festival, we officially took home a "1st Place" trophy in the Junior High division. But looking at the numbers across all the middle schools, our score placed us a spectacular 2nd overall out of the entire division!

Trophies are great, but the real victory is the incredible musical growth these students showed this year.

Thank you to all the families, staff, and community members who supported our musicians. Way to go, CPA Band! 👏👏

🏆 CHAMPIONS AT ELITCH GARDENS! 🏆

Huge congratulations to Levi, Jud, and Roran for taking home 1st Place at the Roller Coaster Competition! 🎢🥇 Out of 27 talented teams, these guys rose to the top with the best design and engineering.

We are so proud of how you represented CPA with scientific excellence. A massive shoutout to Mr. Placeros, thank you for your rigorous teaching, expertise, and for pushing our students to reach their full potential!

This week, we gathered to honor the memory of one of our founding teachers, Adina Felten, who passed away just over one year ago. Adina was a master at teaching the values of kindness, compassion, and empathy—lessons that live on in our hearts. To commemorate her legacy, we have dedicated Buddy Benches on our campus. Interestingly, the idea came from Ellie, a current 3rd grader who shares Adina’s beautiful mission: ensuring every child has a place to find a friend.

National History Day HUGE SHOUTOUT to 3rd place alternate Kahlia Fernstedt (The Woman Rebel: Margaret Sanger Revolutionizing Women’s Contraceptives) and 2nd place nationals qualifier Aubri Aragon (Henrietta Lacks and the HeLa: Innovation, Ethics, and Medical Progress).

Aubri will be going to Baltimore to compete in June, wish her luck as she represents CPA!!!
