We truly are thankful to our wonderful swine, sheep and meat goat committees for helping us set up tonight for the Carroll 4-H Swine, Sheep and Meat Goat Classic tomorrow! A thank you to members of our youth livestock committee for helping too!
A few things to remember tomorrow!
1. The gate will open at 6:30am for arrival. We will have Lucas and Deanna Geiman assisting with parking when you arrive. We will try to get everyone as close as possible to the building.
2. We have a limited number of pens available for families to use. Please check those pens out with members of our junior livestock committee.
3. Please keep animals in designated areas of the barn!! No pens will be allowed to be set up in the barn!!
4. The scales are set along the first garage door parallel to the rabbit barn(corner of the building). To enter the scales you will walk your animals along the aisle way on the side closest to the outside wall.
5. There is a wash rack set up along the wall of the building if needed.
6. There are no bleachers at the show ring. You are welcome to set chairs ringside.
If you have questions, please ask! We are looking forward to seeing many of our members tomorrow!

Roll up your sleeves and dive into the world of clay! In this fun two-day youth workshop, participants will learn clay hand-building techniques to create a one-of-a-kind coil pot inspired by their favorite animal. During the first session, youth will build their piece using low-fire clay, and in the second session, they’ll glaze and add colorful finishing touches. Finished pieces can be used as a planter or decorative artwork, picked up later, and even entered into the fair!
The workshop will take place on June 17, 10 AM–2 PM and July 1, 10 AM–2 PM at the Extension Office. Participants must attend both sessions and should bring a lunch each day. The program cost is $20 (cash or check) or $20.96 (credit). Limited spots are available. This workshop is for youth 10 years and older

Evaluate! Compare! Mark! Defend!
Nearly 60 Maryland 4-H members participated in the Maryland 4-H Livestock Judging Clinic!! Members learned that you have to start at the structural foundation when judging to learning about parts, setting up your judging books. Lots of time spent on reasons too!
We had a fantastic market lamb class for the clinic! 4-H members spent time learning how to handle market lambs and evaluation! Members then went right into judging a market class and then worked on reasons in small groups!
This day wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the King Family for bringing in a market lamb class. Sheepman Supply Company for sponsoring door prizes for all participants! We also appreciate the support of Blackhawk East Livestock Judging Program for sharing teaching resources and door prizes!
A special thank you to all of the volunteers and past members of the Maryland 4-H Judging “A” Teams for spending their day working with these 4-H members! We look forward to seeing everyone throughout the summer and at the state contest later this year!!
Feel free to drop pictures in the comments too!
