The Home School Connection We are a free, fine arts and enrichment program for homeschoolers in kindergarten through 8th grade. This page is our public page that anyone can see and use!

Current families, please visit our private group for more information (see pinned post). The WWA Home School Connection Enrichment Program is designed to enhance the solid learning students are receiving at home, not replace it. We offer your home schooled children unique opportunities to take classes on subjects that might be more difficult for you to teach at home, require a substantial financial investment, or are simply more effective in a group setting. Additionally, WWA’s Home School Connection forms a community that brings home school families together.

Ms. Tiffani's Handmade & Homegrown class explored fiber arts last week with a fun and very satisfying weaving project. Students have been challenged to play with color and texture and think outside the box by incorporating fun shapes. Many students have expressed that this project has felt relaxing and has allowed them to slow down and enjoy working with their hands. Ms. Lyndsey's 3D Art Lab students are stepping into the clay studio to explore fundamental sculpting techniques using air-dry clay. They learned how to build form and texture, used basic hand-building practices and used texture painting techniques to create their own custom clay masterpieces! In Maker’s Market, middle school artists are developing their own original designs using Canva as a platform. They will then be using a sublimation printer to print their art on material goods to be sold during Open House. HSC's annual field trip to Miller Farms last week was a huge success! We had over 400 students, family, and staff attend. Everyone enjoyed picking fruit and veggies, riding on the tractors and hanging out at the farm. This is definitely a favorite tradition here at HSC! Ms. Kelly's social studies and newscast classes are off to a great start! Some of this semester's highlights include making clay snails in J'aime Paris to help us learn about the layout of Paris neighborhoods, as well learning to make French meringue puffs! In Scandinavia class, students made watercolor blow art during a lesson about the geysers of Iceland and prepared and enjoyed a warm bowl of cocoa soup. The Medieval Ages class is studying knighthood and they made their own shields to use in an HSC style jousting tournament! And finally, the newscast class is hard at work bringing everyone school news and learning editing skills like using a green screen. Ms. Paige's Mind & Motion class has been working on the basics of Soroban Abacus Mental Math skills and on movement sequences that consist of 4 to 6 Levels difficulty and students are quickly getting to the 6th level! Martial Arts students are super focused and achieving added tapes to their belts. Drummers are loud and proud and they should be, because they are playing complicated group patterns which requires excellent focus. Ms. Bethany's Eco Engineers are building multi-stage filters using natural and household materials they tested last week, while our Stop Motion Animators explore frames per second through “The Snail Race”- discovering how smaller movements create smoother videos. In Puzzle Masters, students are diving into visual sequences by creating complex tessellations and repeating radial patterns using tracers. So much creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on learning happening in our STEAM classes this week! If you would like your student to participate in classes like this, we'd love to have them at HSC! Last Monday was HSC's annual Field Day. Both students and staff alike loved all the fun, creative stations throughout the day! Families set up and ran 12 stations - things like Pancake Party Relay, Centipede Skis, Sploosh, Sack Race and more! Ms. Amy did a great job organizing everything for the day and everyone fully enjoyed the fun, competitive day!
