Thank you to Kedyn Menchu Cruz for this spotlight on our Orchestra and Mariachi programs! 🔦🎶🎻

There are 110 Westminster High School students are currently enrolled in the Orchestra and Mariachi program combined.

Michael Linert – director of the Orchestra and Mariachi departments, has been cultivating these programs with a focus on collaboration and discipline that build skills that enrich the world with music. The programs combined boast a total of 150 total enrollments, with many of its
students coming into the program with little to no background experience in classical and mariachi ensemble groups.

The program’s mission statement is “To promote the study, composition, and performance of orchestral and mariachi music, inspiring personal
growth, a positive school culture, and healthy communities.” That much is evident through the many community performances and student-led
leadership roles offered.

Elected student president of the Orchestras, Ramon De Arcos Tapia shared, “The orchestra is one big family of different types of players and
people. We strive to do our best so that our program is well-perceived. We invite everyone and anyone to join and give it a try! This is an opportunity to be part of something big here at Westy.”

Additionally, Diego Ruiz – Storyteller of the Orchestras, professed, “The orchestra community is a conglomeration of diverse individuals cooperating to inspire community through music. Our mixed backgrounds fortify all conceivable weaknesses. I am an example of our versatility. Who through writing provide narratives and posters that others might not have the time or inclination to pursue.”
