A new $25,000 scholarship has been established by Target Community & Educational Services, Inc. in honor of McDaniel’s 10th president, Dr. Julia Jasken. In honor of National Deaf History Month and Deaf History Month in Maryland, we are highlighting our M.S. in Deaf Education via McDaniel College Graduate and Professional Studies. Since its inception in 1967 as a joint effort between the college and the Maryland School for the Deaf, the program has prepared teachers of Deaf students at either the elementary or secondary level and alumni are employed throughout the U.S., Canada, and other countries. https://youtu.be/AqbO5r2N6P8

It was Spirit Week on the second floor of Merritt Hall! Members of McDaniel College Graduate and Professional Studies and the Education Department donned their holiday sweaters and participated in a door decorating contest and a silent auction with proceeds to be donated to Home on the Hill. The Home on the Hill program supports students who experience food and/or housing insecurity by providing housing during college breaks, a food pantry, clothing, toiletries, and other necessities.
Monday, November 1 is National Author's Day! Celebrate with us next week with two events featuring published writers in the McDaniel community.
Monday evening's virtual event "Unleash Your Inner Author" features B. Sharise Moore and Jared Reck, two former students in the Writing for Children and Young Adults graduate certificate program through McDaniel College Graduate and Professional Studies, who have found success in the publishing world.
On Wednesday, Nov. 3, the English Department is hosting “An Evening of New Fiction” featuring adjunct lecturers Meghan Phillips ’08 and Katy Stanton, who will read from their published books, in McDaniel Lounge.

The 2022 Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week will be celebrated April 4-8, 2022. This annual recognition was started in 1993 by the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students to support, appreciate, and emphasize the contributions, impact, and value of graduate and professional students on campus, in their workplace and in communities throughout the United States.

In recognition of this week, McDaniel Graduate and Professional Studies will be celebrating with several activities throughout the week. All students who participate in the various events throughout the week will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of three free graduate courses and some awesome McDaniel swag. A SWOT analysis is an exercise which helps guide institutions in planning for organizational growth. SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.
