Exciting news! This year’s Grand Marshal of the Westminster Fallfest Parade is McDaniel College ’s 2024 Alumni of the Year Donald Mosby Rembert, Sr.

Don graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1961 and served for more than a decade active duty in the Army, U.S. Army Reserve, and U.S. Naval Reserve. A business advisor and certified financial planner, he has remained an active volunteer and is past chair of the WMC Heritage Society, which honors the history of Western Maryland College.

As the past chair of the WMC Heritage Society, which he co-founded in 2004, he has enthusiastically honored the history of Western Maryland College while embracing the future of McDaniel College. His impact is evident all over campus, from Rembert House to Rembert Way and Rembert Field at Kenneth R. Gill Stadium, all named in honor of him and his wife, 1960 alumna Judith Ellis Rembert. He also established the annual Rembert Lecture in McDaniel’s Economics and Business Administration department.

He was a member of the college’s ROTC program and commissioned as a second lieutenant into the U.S. Army. Before being honorably discharged, he served for more than a decade active duty in the Army, U.S. Army Reserve, and U.S. Naval Reserve.

A business advisor and certified financial planner, Don is currently the founder and senior manager of Rembert Pendleton Jackson.

It has been an exciting few days welcoming the 540 first-year and transfer students that make up ! In case you missed it, here's a recap of move-in and orientation events for the Class of 2028:

Welcome to the Hill, Class of 2028! | McDaniel College McDaniel College welcomed the Class of 2028 — one of the college's largest incoming classes — with 540 first-year and transfer students during move-in and orientation events.

Members of participated in the Westminster Welcome where they were led by McDaniel President Julia Jasken on a walk from Ward Memorial Arch to downtown Westminster and were greeted by Westminster Mayor Mona Becker before having the opportunity to explore their new community.

In a time-honored tradition, members of were officially welcomed into the McDaniel College community during today’s Introduction Convocation before “ringing in” at Old Main bell.

What a beautiful day for move-in as we welcomed , one of the largest classes in the college’s history with 540 first-year and transfer students! Check out a selection of photos from today!

The 2024-25 academic year officially kicked off today with President Jasken delivering her annual opening remarks to faculty and staff. Several McDaniel faculty members were also recognized for their outstanding achievements during the opening faculty meeting.

McDaniel’s donor-funded Student-Faculty Collaborative Summer Research Program gives undergraduate students from all majors the opportunity to pursue research. This summer, nearly 20 professors led projects in a variety of subjects, including Art, Political Science, Biology, Social Work, Chemistry, English, Math, and Computer Science, with over 50 students.
