About this session: Eri Hotta’s book Suzuki: The Man and His Dream to Teach the Children of the World offers us new insight into the story of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki along with a beautiful reminder of his conviction that all children have a tremendous capacity to learn. Dr. Suzuki’s story offers not only a fresh perspective on early childhood education but also a gateway to the fraught history of musical border drawing and to the makings of a globally influential life in Japan’s tumultuous twentieth century. Join Eri, along with Kristen Krauss, her daughter’s own Suzuki teacher, in conversation about the book, its relevance, and how we can continue to build Dr. Suzuki’s dream.

I’m happy to announce that Cora is now a Carson Scholarship recipient! Congratulations, Cora! Carson Scholars must have a minimum GPA of 3.75 and display humanitarian qualities through community service. Students are nominated by their school teachers grades 4-11. While Cora is no longer a beginner she returns to our beginner group classes to help and support our studio friends. She has also performed a studio events at nursing homes and the public library. Cora is my second student to achieve this scholarship…that I’m aware of! 🥳It’s no secret that music study boots academic achievement! Suzuki kids are also encouraged to be kind and serve the community.
The studio is closed next week for spring break. No classes or lessons.
