The best text that a Toastmaster member can receive after speaking to a group of professionals!

While being onstage can definitely make you FEEL like you are the center of attention, it's important to always remember that public speaking is NOT about you; it's about the connections you create with your audience! Finding something you have in common and speaking to it is a key to making a speech your audience will remember.

Your voice is a powerful tool that can make ALL the difference when used loud and clear! Use it to set yourself apart from "all the other noises today", whatever those may be;)

(Big Helpful Tip: recording yourself speaking and then listening to it over and over is a fantastic way to get used to your own voice (since most of us don't like the sound of our own voices at first). This Toastmaster speaks from experience!)

This week's CVTM meeting theme is LISTENING! We know Toastmasters is all about talking and making your voice heard - but did you know it is just as much about being a good listener as well? Actively listening to what someone else has to say (whether it's in a speech or just in a conversation) is just as important of a life skill as public speaking is. You might (or most likely, WILL) learn something new!

This week's meeting's theme is Effective Communications Month! This is a perfect time for us all to appreciate - and brush up on - something that most of us take for granted on a day-to-day basis. Even if the idea of "getting everything out" makes you feel uncomfortable, embarrassed, or even scared, the truth is you'll likely only be able to feel at peace once you look past the discomfort and DO it. And even though Toastmasters is a public speaking club, the skills we practice will help you be a better communicator even when you talk to just ONE person!

Many think that leadership is about having a great title and having the power to fire anyone on a whim. Yet, without their title, without their authority, they are nothing.

In contrast to this, a person can be a leader WITHOUT a title by putting people first. Even if you actively listen to someone, greet them with a smile, or do any seemingly "small" action to positively influence the world - in that moment YOU are a leader!

Wise words!! how well you do when presenting a speech comes down to how much you practice and how prepared you are. Give your brain enough time to practice and prepare and it will take care of the rest:)
