A great reminder as parents are thinking about back-to-school to-do lists

Before the first day, your child's new teacher should hear from you. Not the IEP, which they may not get to. One page, in your words.

You don't have to write it from scratch. Supporting Success for Children with Hearing Loss has a ready-made letter you can fill in and email, and Hands & Voices has a library on classroom access and what a teacher of the deaf actually does.

Why it matters, in their words: teachers often assume the technology fixes the problem, and that a student will speak up when they've missed something. Kids don't always know what they missed, because they missed it. Then they're held accountable for it anyway.

For nearly 25 years, The Decibels Foundation has been making a difference and we couldn't do it without the support of our incredible community.

Our 24th Annual Golf Tournament will be Monday, October 5, 2026 after the original June date had to be rescheduled due to rain. But that means we're excited to take in the crisp fall air and changing foliage, and spend a great day with you in support of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and their families.

Your support drives the programs, people, and purpose behind everything we do.

Thank you for believing in what we do.
