✒️ENGL 613: Creative Writing Pedagogy ✒️Summer II
✒️Tuesdays, 4:30-6:30, synchronous
In-person Intensive on Wednesday, August 5, 10:00-4:00 (option to participate via Zoom as needed)

✒️This course is designed to prepare students to teach creative writing courses and lessons in any of the three genres of fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction. Students will explore multiple creative writing pedagogy theories and will apply creative writing strategies as they design assignments and workshop practices to use in their K-12 classrooms and beyond.
This course will be similar to one in a low-res MFA program: we’ll meet synchronously on Tuesdays, there will be asynchronous work, and we will hold a full day intensive on Wednesday, August 5. 🦉🌞✒️📚

My name is Molly Moulin and I am a rising senior English & Secondary Education major at Westfield State. My dream job is to be a middle or high school ELA teacher. This past semester I did my field experience at a middle school in Chicopee and I absolutely LOVED it. I worked in a 6th grade classroom with students who were hardworking, kind, and my motivation to be the best teacher I can be. For the 2026-2027 school year I will be at Westfield High School and will take over as the teacher in January for my practicum. I am so excited for the opportunity to get to work with more students and touch so many lives. Aside from my academics, I am involved in many meaningful ways on campus. You can often find me working as an office assistant in the English department, giving a campus tour as an Admissions Ambassador or in the Woodward Center dance studio with the dance company where I serve as a choreographer and the treasurer for the company. Westfield State has given me so much and the best part of my experience has been the people. I feel so lucky to have made such great friendships that will last a lifetime! I am so excited for my senior year and am ready to soak in the final moments and memories for my final year at Westfield! 🦉📚😊📕
