The new school year is officially underway! These smiling faces are from WHS, but if you're looking for photos from other buildings, we're pleased to share that each WWS school now has an official Facebook and Instagram account.

School and district emails, newsletters, texts, Talking Points messages, and websites will still be your primary and best source for news and updates. These social media accounts are meant to be fun and supplemental looks at each building's day-to-day and activities.

From hot air balloons over Albuquerque to kayaking through 30 mph winds, Monon Trail Elementary teacher Carly Miller spent part of her summer embracing new challenges across the American Southwest.

Carly was selected for a 2026 Lilly Endowment Teacher Creativity Fellowship, which took her through New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah for experiences including a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon, backpacking through Bryce Canyon, horseback riding in Zion National Park, and rafting the Colorado River.

Her goal? Step outside her comfort zone in the same way she encourages her students to do every day. “Learning is all about facing challenges and taking risks, even if it means facing failure,” Carly said.

Now, she’s bringing those lessons in perseverance, confidence and lifelong learning back to her students at Monon Trail. Congratulations, Mrs. Miller! ☘️

These Westfield community members will be spending one morning a month taking a deep dive into the various aspects of how WWS and our schools operate. They'll hear from educators and administrators, tour our facilities, and learn about curriculum, school finance, HR, operations, and more!

Incoming eighth graders Rivika Srivastava and Henry Stinson recently represented Westfield Middle School at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.

Henry’s Hoosiers Helping Hoopers project raised $575 and created six basketball gift baskets to help local students get into the game. Rivika’s Passion for Pediatrics project included interviews with three pediatricians and hands-on volunteer experiences, earning her a National Top Ten finish and 2nd place in the nation!

Congratulations to Rivika and Henry, and thank you to WMS Family and Consumer Sciences teachers Ally Smith and Emerson Burroughs for supporting them throughout the journey.
