As AI has become more prevalent in admissions essay, this research shows that AI use is more prevalent among lower income students AND has created more homogeneity in the essays in general. It also found that applicants who used AI were more likely to be rejected. Bottom line, kids the put the time in and write their own essays in their own voice will continue to stand out in admissions. There are no shortcuts.
