It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Dr. Garreth Lynch.

Gary, as many knew him, had an impressive career and leaves behind a remarkable legacy. He began as an English teacher at Westfield High School, served three terms in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, and also served as mayor of Westfield. Dr. Lynch dedicated his life to education and public service. He was not only an alum of Westfield State, but he also served as Assistant to the President and as a class advisor to the class of 1985. Dr. Garreth Lynch, you will be deeply missed.

The Tekoa 1985 yearbook, which was dedicated to Dr. Lynch, seems to sum him up perfectly: “Gary Lynch, who is he? He's the one that would make you laugh when all you wanted to do was cry. He's the one who had answers to all of our questions. No concern was too small, and no problem was too big. He created "the bond" for which so many of us are fortunate to have experienced.”
