Over the last three years I have been given many opportunities to learn and grow as a board member. I attended NYSSBA trainings, collaborated with my fellow Board members and district administration, and listened to parents and community members.

I am a dedicated mother, business professional and community member who remains focused on the education of all our children. If re-elected to the Board of Education I will continue to grow and further develop my contributions as a board member to our school and community. I also will continue to work collaboratively with my fellow board members to keep the focus on our students, as I have been for the last three years, providing all our students with academic opportunities while remaining fiscally responsible to the taxpayers.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 16th is the day to vote on the WACS school budget and Board of Education members at the school between 12pm-8pm. Go vote!

If it’s a Monday night you’ll find me in one of two places – at a WACS Board of Education meeting or at a Cub Scout meeting!

Currently, I serve on the Board of Education, the Board of Education Audit and Personnel sub committees. I am a parent member on the Health & Wellness Committee and the Vice President of the WACs Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO).

In the community, I belong to the First United Methodist Church of Westfield. I am a Bear Den Leader and Committee member in Mayville’s Cub Scout Pack 126; a volunteer fall soccer coach with Westfield Recreation; a member of the Infinity Gymnastics Boosters Club; Little Free Library Steward, and a past member of LEICC (Local Early Intervention Coordinating Council) of Chautauqua County.

In addition, in a voluntary role, I encourage and support parents to be positive advocates for their children while working with various members of their child’s support team ie: teachers, therapists, aides, doctors, bus driver and CSE team (Committee on Special Education). I maintain the Parent Network of WNY - Chautauqua County page, sharing local resources and events for children of all abilities. My goal, for EVERY child, is to see each child be successful in their own way!

As a member of the Board of Education Personnel Subcommittee it was a pleasure to interview Lauren Harper. I am excited for the students and staff at WACS as she joins our district.

PANAMA — Panama’s elementary school principal, Lauren Harper, will be leaving her position to start at Westfield this summer.

“I have worked with really great people and am eternally grateful for the opportunities at Panama and being here with the strong staff,” she said. “I look forward to working with the strong staff at Westfield, too.” https://www.post-journal.com/news/top-stories/2023/05/community-feeling/

My husband, Blake, and I moved to Westfield 8 years ago, but we were familiar with the area long before. Three generations of my husband’s family have camped in Chautauqua County during the spring, summer, and fall months for many decades. After my husband and I married, we drove 50 miles from our home in Hamburg to Brookside Beach Campground to camp with our two Labradors and then with our son after he was born. We spent many weekends taking long walks exploring the village, the farmer’s market; the playground at Welch Field, visiting the market at Crossroads, Barcelona harbor and other businesses in the area. With the arrival of our second child, we decided to sell our camper, but still spent many weekends traveling back to visit family that camped here and our favorite Westfield places.

After selling our camper, we missed spending our weekend summers in Westfield. We now had three kids, three and under, in a small house bursting at the seams. Blake has always enjoyed browsing through real estate listings and would often send me links to houses in Westfield as they would pop up for sale. Despite telling Blake no many times, he kept sending me a link to this one house, a giant fixer upper. With a little convincing to “just have a look” at this house, we made the 50-mile journey in a snowstorm on Valentine’s Day 2015. After climbing over snowbanks, we made it in the front door (It was one of those years we had a lot of snow here), and knew it was the next house for our growing family. After touring the house and lunching at the Parkview Café to talk it over, we decided to put in an offer on the house and list our current home. What happened next, we did not expect - our bid was accepted on the house here in Westfield AND we had sold our current home at the time in 5 days! It was meant to be!

We moved into our home in the spring of 2015 with 3 small kids and 2 dogs. We’ve spent countless hours renovating our old fixer upper, turning it into our cozy family home full of life and laughter. We now lovingly refer to our house as our Valentine’s Day house.

The small-town community feel of Westfield draws people to it, including our parents who have followed us here – my parents live here in the village and Blake’s parents live nearby in Dunkirk. Westfield is a wonderful community, with many unique businesses and ways to experience the great outdoors year-round which is why so many families live here with friends and tourists flocking to come for a visit. Our village is not only a great place to visit but a great place to raise children and grow old. The last eight years have been an exciting journey and I cannot wait to see what the future brings for our family and community.
