I’m pretty excited! One of my tasks for today was to drop off a batch of the textbooks for our Indiana students. They are not ready for pickup- some textbooks are not available to be packed in the boxes so not available until Sunday morning when we convene together. I thought I had taken pictures of the lids on the boxes, but apparently I didn’t actually take the picture. There are a lot of things to get ready and finalized between now and next week- but I love seeing the year start coming together in readiness. I’m looking forward to seeing all our Indiana families this Sunday, August 9th from 10-2. Please plan to stay the whole time.

Teacher’s meetings in Indiana have kept us busy thinking about and testing out the innovation process. This is a rough “prototype” of a “stuffed”animal that helps nonverbal, autistic children navigate their world with feedback on things in their environment that are problematic and alerts them and their adults nearby of needs to address triggers.

Only a few open spots left 😌

An updated list of our enrollment and in progress enrollment students reveal that we have only a few spots open for the school year. We’ve had a flurry of inquiries and time is coming to a crunch for decisions- but if you’ve been on the fence, or was planning to enroll but haven’t been able to manage the time to yet- I would encourage you to reach out and let us help you with the process.

The school year is fast upon us. Mrs. Zeismer spent time at the conference office today getting the first round of textbooks ready for the year.

Something new this year is that each student has been assigned a bar code and the textbooks are checked out to each student individually, instead of in general to the school as years past. This will help us better manage our textbook rentals more effectively and help track questions about the books back to the students who were using them during the year. Prayerfully, this will help us manage rising textbooks replacement costs and needs more wisely.

Our summer is drawing to a close and our learning journey continues. An email has gone out to our families with information on when to meet for our opening day activities and materials pickup. But just in case you missed it, please grab this information quick and go check your email for all of the extra details.

Indians families meet Sunday, August 9, 10-2 at the Indiana Conference of SDAs Conference Office. 15205 Westfield Blvd., Carmel, IN

Wisconsin/Illinois families meet Monday, August 19, 5:30-7:30 at the Fox Valley SDA Church in Neenah, WI at 265 S Green Bay Rd.

Our website has been under construction this summer, and the work is still underway. However, many new features and pieces of information are already available for you to explore and learn more about our school.

Our teachers are in serious planning mode as we head into the final weeks of summer. A neat idea for our parents with younger children is to gather these mostly recyclable materials and build a fun “math machine” to help make practice fun and easier. Our older students might enjoy helping to make one for younger siblings and friends and “teach” them how to use it- thus brushing up on the skills and strengthening the process for themselves.

Watching the storms pass over on the radar and holding our families in my thoughts and prayers for safety. It’s been a busy storm season held close in prayer.
