Calling all cereal lovers!

Ms O'Ryan is collecting EMPTY cereal and shoe boxes for an 8th grade science project.

Ms O'Ryan and NJHS is also collecting (full) cereal boxes to donate to Inprem Northland Food Pantry. If we donate, Sequoia Bowling Lanes gives us a discount for January's Renaissance!

Empty boxes are needed by Monday. Full boxes are being collected for a grade-level competition all next week.

We are teaming up for a fun Spirit Week to support our community food drive! Each themed day is a chance to show your school spirit and help others. Let’s have fun and make a difference together!

Mr. Bobb Woodruff is turning 80 years old on November 19th! He taught at Blendon from 1969–2000 and still volunteers daily. Let’s show him some love and appreciation by flooding his mailbox with birthday cards, letters, and memories! 💙

Westerville Sunrise Rotary Celebrates Karen Yingling with the October 2025 Service to Youth Award!

This honor celebrate individuals whose dedication, creativity, and compassion profoundly impact the lives of young learners in the Westerville community.

Karen Yingling: Literary Leader and Schoolwide Mentor, she is the Librarian at Blendon Middle School and was honored for her boundless energy and unwavering dedication to student success.

Having read every fiction book in the Blendon library, Karen expertly connects students with books based on their interests. She also reviews books for publishers and authors, securing free titles for the library and forging valuable connections that benefit both students and staff.
Beyond her literary influence, Karen is a beacon of environmental stewardship, commuting by foot or bike and inspiring students to consider their impact on the planet. As Blendon’s unofficial tech guru, she keeps classrooms running smoothly and supports staff with calm, expert troubleshooting. Her presence is felt throughout the school—from coaching cross country to greeting students by name—building meaningful relationships that strengthen the community.

▪️All athletes must have a current physical on file IN Final Forms as well as electronic signatures completed by both the athlete and parent. Students can use their school emails to sign the forms.

8th Grade Boys Basketball Open Gyms: Mondays/Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30pm (Oct. 15, 20, 22); Tryouts for 8th Grade Boys Basketball will be Monday & Tuesday, Oct. 27-28 from 5:30-7pm.

7th Grade Boys Basketball Open Gyms: Wednesday, Oct. 15 5:30-7:30, Monday, Oct. 20 from 3-4:30, Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 5:30-7:30pm. Tryouts for 7th Grade Boys Basketball will be on Tuesday & Wednesday, Oct. 28-29 from 7pm-8:30pm.

Girls 7th & 8th Grade Basketball Open Gyms: Tuesday, Oct. 21 and Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 3-4:30pm; Tryouts for 7th & 8th Grade Girls Basketball will be Monday and Tuesday, October 27-28th from 3-5pm

Wrestling Open Mats will begin the week of the 27th. Look for more information to be sent soon!
