Congratulations to WCOMLS senior Bella on being recognized for her service to the Getty College of Arts and Sciences Student Advisory Board! On Tuesday, April 28, the WCOMLS students traveled to Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH for a mycology (fungus) lab day. They learned many techniques for culturing and identifying fungus in patient specimens. It was an enlightening and enjoyable day for all! οΏΌπ§«π§π»βπ¬π©πΌβπ¬π¬

The WCOMLS stdents continue to grow their professional skills! On this day, the students conducted βminiβ employee evaluations. Each session started with the evaluator telling the employee one positive thing about their work. This was followed by the evaluator telling the employee an area they need to improve. First taskβ¦easy! Second taskβ¦not so much! Great job to all! π§«π©π»βπ¬π§π»βπ¬π¬

The WCOMLS program believes that patients are best served when their healthcare providers work together. So today, we organized an interprofessional event with future doctors , PAs, and veterinarians in Dr. Rema Sunigaβs Medical Physiology course. The WCOMLS students helped the Med Phys students perform a complete urinalysis and demonstrated how a urine specimen is cultured. It was a great learning experience for all! π¬π©π»βπ¬π§π»βπ¬π§«
