Congratulations to WCOMLS senior Bella on being recognized for her service to the Getty College of Arts and Sciences Student Advisory Board! She was honored with a Getty Greatness Award for her outstanding service and a with pin recognizing her role as the board’s Public Relations chairperson. Well done, Bella!

On Tuesday, April 28, the WCOMLS students traveled to Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH for a mycology (fungus) lab day. They learned many techniques for culturing and identifying fungus in patient specimens. It was an enlightening and enjoyable day for all! 🧫🧑🏻‍🔬👩🏼‍🔬🔬

Tuesday, ONU celebrated our annual Honors Day, a day to recognize the academic and other significant achievements of our students. The MLS program is proud to recognized several students for their accomplishments this year! 🔬🧑🏻‍🔬👩🏻‍🔬🧫

The WCOMLS stdents continue to grow their professional skills! On this day, the students conducted “mini” employee evaluations. Each session started with the evaluator telling the employee one positive thing about their work. This was followed by the evaluator telling the employee an area they need to improve. First task…easy! Second task…not so much! Great job to all! 🧫👩🏻‍🔬🧑🏻‍🔬🔬

The WCOMLS program believes that patients are best served when their healthcare providers work together. So today, we organized an interprofessional event with future doctors , PAs, and veterinarians in Dr. Rema Suniga’s Medical Physiology course. The WCOMLS students helped the Med Phys students perform a complete urinalysis and demonstrated how a urine specimen is cultured. It was a great learning experience for all! 🔬👩🏻‍🔬🧑🏻‍🔬🧫

MLS students in Dr. Leslie Riley’s Parasitology course enjoyed a day in the “wild” as they searched for and collected parasites. As you can tell from the smiles, they had a great time! 🔬🧑🏻‍🔬👩🏻‍🔬🧫🐛
