🎓 Understanding the Common App Essay Prompts

Each year, the Common App personal statement gives students 7 different prompts to choose from. The good news? You don’t have to answer all of them, just one.

The prompts are intentionally broad. They’re designed to help you share a meaningful story, personal experience, or moment of growth that reveals who you are beyond grades and test scores.

Admissions officers aren’t looking for a “perfect” answer. They’re looking for authentic reflection, clear voice, and insight into how you think, learn, and grow.
