Look carefully at these pictures. At first glance they may not seem like much, but if you look a little bit deeper you will see magic. This is child led play. A small group of children have spent hours decorating these houses and making them their own. They moved the shelf in using teamwork. They have specific reasons why they want the milk crates on the roof. Every object and chalk decoration was planned by them. They have been so hard at work. This is better than any preplanned activity could ever be. This type of play, where the hours fall away and the children feel excited and empowered to implement their ideas is where the magic lies. We can’t wait to see what happens tomorrow!

The Magic Trees. It’s all we ever need. 🍃

We love our inside play spaces so much. We have poured our hearts into the Art Studio and the Discovery Room. However, there is nothing like the wild to settle the child. Being among these old sacred trees, our “magic trees” was exactly what everyone needed. The children played with sticks, pinecones and trees and everyone was in a peaceful flow. Getting outside is always the right choice.🍃

Colored sand made the potions extra fun today!🍃

If you were to come to Sticks and Stones Preschool, you would find a little sun filled art studio. It is a place where the answer is yes. The ideas come from the artists who infuse this magical space with their creativity. Artists bloom in this room and best of all, each has their own unique way of creating. If you visited the studio, you would hear laughter and feel both joy and peace. It is one of the best places to be.🎨

Earth Day is a wonderful reminder to give our earth a little extra love each day! So, we got our hands right in the dirt this week. We planted our wildflowers and zinnias, we dug for worms, observed our 11 caterpillars, reflected on our favorite things about the earth with some paint, collected garbage from the outside, created nature boards with recycled materials, relaxed under the blue sky and climbed some trees.
Ahhh…it’s been such a great week. 🍃
