Since 1996, families and communities across the country have clipped, scanned, and collected Box Tops to support their schools. Last evening at Madison Square Garden, that long-term investment came full circle for Westbury Union Free School District in a very big way.
For 30 years, Box Tops for Education has demonstrated how small things, done consistently over time, can make a meaningful difference.
As part of Box Tops for Education’s 30th Anniversary celebration, four Westbury schools were selected from more than 800,000 schools across the country that participate in the program to receive a combined $120,000 in Bonus Box Tops donations.
Each school received $30,000:
• Powells Lane Elementary School
• Park Avenue Elementary School
• Drexel Avenue Elementary School
• Westbury Middle School
That is $120,000 invested directly in Westbury schools and our scholars.
We are grateful to General Mills and Box Tops for Education, along with Walmart, the New York Knicks, and Knicks Legend Allan Houston, for recognizing our schools and investing in the Westbury school community.
There is something powerful about seeing what can happen when we invest in the little things over the long term. A Box Top may seem small. One collection may seem small. But when a community keeps showing up, keeps participating, and keeps believing that every little bit matters, those small efforts can ultimately pay out in a very big way.
Thirty years of little things. Four Westbury schools. $120,000 in support. One incredible reminder that small things can lead to big impact.
