On Memorial Day, the Brothers of Sigma Beta Beta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. continued our annual pilgrimage to honor the memory of our beloved Brothers who have entered Omega Chapter.

Our journey took us across three cemeteries Cypress Hills in Brooklyn, Greenfield Cemetery in Nassau County, and Pinelawn in Suffolk County. At each gravesite, Brothers took time to clean and care for the resting place and place flowers in remembrance, ensuring that those who contributed to the history and legacy of Sigma Beta Beta are never forgotten.

This annual tradition is about more than visiting a gravesite. It is about Brotherhood that extends beyond this life, remembering those who came before us, honoring their contributions, and carrying their legacy forward.

Though they have entered Omega Chapter, their names, their service, and their Brotherhood remain forever a part of the Fraternity.

Friendship is Essential to the Soul.

The evening brought special recognition to Brothers whose leadership and commitment continue to exemplify our Cardinal Principles:

🏆 Bro. Fred Vincent, Basileus — Outstanding Frater of the Year Award

🏆 Bro. Kevin Bailey — Outstanding Service Award

In addition, Bro. Anthony Evans was recognized with the Outstanding Chapter Advisor Award for his work and commitment to Upsilon Mu Chapter, while Upsilon Mu received the Collegiate Chapter Award.

Our Charles R. Drew Blood Drive was a success, and we extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who came out and supported this important effort. Whether you donated blood, volunteered your time, helped spread the word, or encouraged someone else to participate, you played a role in helping save lives.

Every donation represents hope for someone in need, and every person who participated demonstrated the power of community and service.

Special thanks to Turtle Hook Middle School PTA and the New York Blood Center for partnering with us to make this event possible.

Each year, the Brothers of Sigma Beta Beta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. proudly support the Village of Westbury’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt, continuing our commitment to serving families and creating positive experiences for the youth in our community.

This year, more than 50 children, ages 3–10, enjoyed an afternoon filled with an Easter egg hunt, coloring activities, photos with the Easter Bunny, and special Easter baskets awarded to those who discovered the Golden Eggs.

Bro. Ian McCalla (‘25) & Bro. Jermaine Gaillard (‘25) assisted with preparing and distributing the colorful eggs for the hunt, helping make the day special for the children and their families. Our continued participation was also recognized by the Long Island Press, highlighting Omega Psi Phi’s support of this annual Westbury tradition.

We are proud to return year after year, strengthening our relationship with the Village of Westbury and demonstrating that community service is not simply something we do occasionally, it is part of who we are.

Throughout Black History Month, the Brothers of Sigma Beta Beta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. proudly participated in programs dedicated to celebrating Black excellence, education, culture and leadership.

At the Black History Month Showcase at Deer Park High School, Brothers participated in the Divine Nine Panel Discussion, engaging students and sharing the history, values, leadership, and service represented throughout the Divine Nine.

Brothers also participated in the Black Excellence & College Readiness Program at Friends Academy, joining HBCU alumni, community leaders, professionals, and fellow Divine Nine members to mentor and encourage students as they prepare for college and beyond.

These opportunities remind us that Black History is not only something we celebrate—it is something we continue to build. Through mentorship, education, representation, and service, we remain committed to uplifting and preparing the next generation.

The Sigma Beta Beta Chapter Talent Hunt Program was a tremendous success! In partnership with Turtle Hook Middle School’s Male Mentoring Initiative and Music Department, we welcomed seven talented students from Uniondale High School who showcased their gifts through instrumental music, dance, and vocal performances.

The morning also featured outstanding performances from Turtle Hook’s Drumline, Cheerleading Team, and Step Team, making this a true celebration of our young people and their talents.

After an impressive competition, our winners received:

🥇 1st Place — $500
🥈 2nd Place — $400
🥉 3rd Place — $300

Our First Place winner, Maykayla Grier, delivered an outstanding saxophone performance and advanced to represent Sigma Beta Beta at the 78th Second District Conference. 🏆🎷

We extend our appreciation to the Talent Hunt Committee, Turtle Hook Middle School, our judges, participating students and families, and the Brothers of Sigma Beta Beta who helped make the program possible.

Talent Hunt is more than a competition it is an opportunity to recognize, encourage, and invest in the next generation of talented young people.

Congratulations to all of our participants and winners! The future is bright! 💜💛
