Directions to Pompei,
401 Hempstead Avenue, West Hempstead

From W. Tresper Clarke HS:

Turn right out of semi-circle onto Edgewood Drive.
After 0.2 miles, turn right onto Myron Road and then immediately turn left onto Washington Avenue.
At the end of Washington Avenue (0.2 mi), turn right onto Old Country Road.
Travel East on Old Country Road for 0.9 miles.
Make right as indicated for Wantagh Parkway South
Travel 300 feet and make left onto entrance ramp for Wantagh Parkway
Continue on Wantagh Parkway for 4.1 miles
At exit W4 W, take ramp right for Southern (State) Parkway West toward New York.
Continue on Southern Parkway for 8.1 mi
Follow instructions below for travel from Southern (State) Parkway.

From Southern (State) Parkway:

Take Southern (State) Parkway to Hempstead Avenue Northbound (Exit 17N).
At end of ramp, turn right onto Hempstead Avenue.
Travel North on Hempstead Avenue for approx. 0.3 miles and keep right past Nassau Boulevard to remain on Hempstead Avenue.
Continue on Hempstead Turnpike for another 0.9 miles.
Turn left into Pompei parking lot.

740 Edgewood Drive, Westbury
Note: when using GPS, enter 760 Edgewood Drive, Westbury

From the West:

Take Meadowbrook Parkway to Old Country Road Eastbound.
Continue on Old Country Road for 2.3 miles to Westbury Drive (NOT Westbury Road).
Turn right on Westbury Drive (just past Bethpage Federal Credit Union & before 7-Eleven).
At end of Westbury Drive, turn right onto Roxbury Drive.
Make immediate left onto Edgewood Drive.
Continue on Edgewood Drive past Clarke parking lot to entrance to Clarke HS semi-circle (approx. 0.3 miles).
Turn right into semi-circle and park.

From the East:

Take Wantagh Parkway to Old Country Road Westbound.
Continue on Old Country Road for 0.9 miles to Washington Avenue.
Turn left onto Washington Avenue.
Continue South on Washington Avenue for 0.3 miles and turn right onto Myron Road.
At end of Myron Road, turn left onto Edgewood Drive.
Continue on Edgewood Drive to entrance to Clarke HS semi-circle (approx. 0.2 miles).
Turn left into semi-circle and park.

Directions to Borrelli’s, 1580 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow

From Meadowbrook Parkway Northbound:

Take Meadowbrook Parkway to Hempstead Turnpike Eastbound (Exit M5).
Merge onto Hempstead Turnpike.
Continue on Hempstead Turnpike for 250 feet and turn right into Borrelli’s parking lot.

From Meadowbrook Parkway Southbound:

Take Meadowbrook Parkway to Hempstead Turnpike Eastbound (Exit M5).
Merge onto Hempstead Turnpike.
Continue on Hempstead Turnpike for 0.2 miles and turn right into Borrelli’s parking lot.

From the Hempstead Turnpike Westbound:

Head westbound on Hempstead Turnpike past the end of Eisenhower Park.
Continue 0.6 miles past Borrelli’s on your left (you cannot make a left turn).
Make a U-turn. You will be heading eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike.
Borrelli’s will be on your right, approx. 0.1 miles past Meadowbrook Parkway.

The schedule for our reunion has been finalized:

Friday, Oct. 16th, 4 pm to 8 pm: Borrelli’s, 1580 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow. We will meet in the back of the bar area (When you enter Borrelli’s, head to the left and go past the bar). Everything is on your own (happy hour ends at 6 pm). If everyone wants, we could order some pizzas.

Saturday, Oct. 17th, 12 noon: Meet in the semi-circle in front of Clarke, 740 Edgewood Drive, Westbury. You’ll see my car (silver Cadillac SRX) with signs and red “6” & “5” balloons. I’ll be there by 11:30 and will have snacks, water, soda, etc. I’ll also be handing out badges that will identify us for activities during the day. Try to get there by noon so we can head for the main lobby where members of the National Honor Society will provide us with a tour of the school. After the tour, we will head back to the semi-circle.

Saturday, Oct. 17th, 1 pm: Join us in the Little Theater to honor Pete White who will be inducted into the W. Tresper Clarke Hall of Achievement. After the ceremony, we’ll go to the front hall for the unveiling of Pete’s plaque and to the Faculty Room where there will be sandwiches, coffee, and cake.

Saturday, Oct. 17, 2 pm: Head to the football field for the Clarke football team Homecoming game. If you haven’t received your badge, please see me. Anyone who was on the football team when we were in school will be made an honorary Captain and will participate in the coin toss on the field. Our class members will be judges for the floats in the Homecoming Parade at halftime. The Parents and Boosters Club makes food for the Clarke football games including hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled pork, sausage & peppers, tacos, etc. Your badge will identify you for a discount on the food.

Saturday, Oct 17th, 6:30 pm – 10:30 pm: Dinner-Dance at Pompei Restaurant and Catering, 401 Hempstead Ave, West Hempstead. We’ll start with hot hors d’oeuvres followed by a buffet dinner with salad, 8 selections (pasta, chicken, veal, seafood, eggplant, spare ribs, vegetables, fruit platter) and 2 carvings (sliced steak & turkey). There will be a DJ, a 4-hour open bar, coffee/tea, and pastries. We’ll also do a group photo.
