Come muck around in the stream with us next week! Clara is leading a hunt for macroinvertebrates at Mill Brook Preserve on Thursday morning - perhaps the perfect outing if your kids (or if you're a kid-at-heart; adults are welcome too!) are not back in school yet?

We'll show how to collect small stream organisms and sort them for observation and identification, discuss how macroinvertebrates can indicate water quality, and share how YOU can contribute to an important community science project through Maine Audubon's Marsh and Stream Explorers, which acts as a screening tool for DEP’s water quality assessments.

Our staff were craving some wicking, light layers for the summer heat, so we made some! We now have long-sleeved sun hoodies and short-sleeved performance t-shirts, as well as a cute little tote, available for ordering on our Bonfire store.

Each shirt is available in multiple colors (and the t-shirt comes in women’s and youth cuts too!) and features “Presumpscot Regional Land Trust” on the front and our logo on the back with the tagline “protected lands, healthy waters, vibrant communities.” The tote bag is made from 100% recycled cotton canvas and features our favorite piece of advice: “go outside.”

We've heard that there's been a prevalence of wasps at Steep Falls Village Preserve lately 🐝 Toby went out yesterday to take care of the nest, but there will probably still be[e] some buzzing around for a bit, so do keep an eye and ear out as you explore the preserve.

There are two weeks left in this year's Summer Trail Challenge, and today is our final Tuesday Trail Trek! These small group walks have been a fun way to get outside, meet new people, and check off all the stops on this year's Challenge. But don't just take our word for it - take Carita's! She and her husband Chris are teachers who get to spend their summers here, and they've been to each of the Treks so far!

Did you see Abigail and Clara at Thompson's Point last Friday night? They were at the Role Model concert repping Sebago Clean Waters and sharing information about how conserving land helps keep our drinking water clean.

Members of the PRLTeam along with friends from other members of Sebago Clean Waters (including Portland Water District, Lakes Environmental Association, Mahoosuc Land Trust, Casco Bay Estuary Partnership, The Nature Conservancy in Maine, and more) will be at Thompson Point shows all summer as part of the collaborative's partnership with Reverb. Make sure you stop by and say hi - you might even win a special Sebago Clean Waters bandana!
