I am a professional drum and guitar teacher, performer, and Berklee College of Music graduate. I work with students of all ages and levels of experience, and in a variety of musical styles. I live in Westboro, MA, and I travel to my students' homes here, and in the surrounding towns throughout central Mass.
Styles that I regularly work on with drum students are rock, pop, jazz, funk, Latin, orchestral, and variations/combinations thereof. I teach those who play drum set (in school or on their own), and others who play individual percussion parts in concert bands and orchestras. My aim is to help develop a strong foundation based on rhythmic understanding and playing technique. Once those are established, I'm open to focusing more on a student's specific area(s) of interest. I also have plenty of ideas and materials pertaining to various fun, interesting, and challenging aspects of drumming.
With guitar students, I teach a mixture of playing technique, and learning to read (both standard notation and tablature). I normally couple these with some music theory and listening development exercises as well. I recommend various books (some that I use with everyone who is getting started, and eventually I suggest some others, depending on a student's particular interests). I also give out a bunch of my own materials and song transcriptions that I have done. I work with guitar students in a variety of styles, and I teach students of all ages.
I teach bass and piano lessons to beginner-intermediate students also.
