Cal Poly SLO is beautiful! There was a 30 percent acceptance rate for 2023 applicants. Learning by doing is the philosophy, practice and motto at California Poly Tech at San Luis Obispo. Shouldn’t that be part of every curriculum? One student told me he is learning outside all day, he only attends lecture inside to prepare for most of his learning outside when studying sciences. He also reported his appreciation for direct communication w/his professors for internships and jobs. Class size average = 20 students. First years live on campus with most students living in apartments.
The nearby town is really charming!
Cal Poly SLO is a gorgeous campus with a big ski culture and comfy climate. Like Champlain College in Vermont, they have an upside down or blended curriculum. You take the career focused/fun classes first.
An Engineering student said his first class was welding! Learn by doing makes so much sense.
According to a junior, it’s easier than most schools to switch majors.

The University of Maryland College Park is a large state university with school spirit, diversity, Greek life, and research opportunities abound. 94 percent of the students who were accepted last year had a GPA of a 3.77 or higher. UMD College Park is looking for students with academic rigor, learners who took the toughest courses possible in high school. You can see the Washington Monument from the UMD football stadium!

The campus offers the best of both worlds because of its grassy areas, lake views AND the fact that it’s in the city. 🎯Admissions Deadline: Rolling Admissions ✅Acceptance Rate is 79%. 📚Most Popular Majors are Nursing, Psychology, Biology, Marketing, Neuroscience and Neurobiology, Political Science, Government and Finance. 🌏I was especially impressed with the sustainability program and internships. ✌️Loyola is a Jesuit school, and all races and religions are welcome. Florida Atlantic University is located in Boca Raton, Florida. What was once considered a commuter school is now slowly, but surely, becoming more residential with an increasing amount of out of state students. FAU is a state school with their football stadium right on campus. Hey school spirit! The acceptance rate at FAU is approximately 78%. It is a rolling admissions school, so you may apply at any time. One thing to note is that there is a shortage of housing, so if living on campus is important to you, you may want to consider another school. Most popular majors are liberal arts, biology, psychology, and business.
