At Transitions, our motto is Work Hard, Play Hard—and that’s exactly how we wrapped up an incredible ESY! 🎉

Our end-of-summer dance was the perfect celebration of weeks filled with learning, new experiences, and meaningful friendships. From reconnecting with old friends to welcoming new ones, our young adults embraced every opportunity to grow, laugh, and make lasting memories.

Providing smiles to seniors is the mission of Sonshine and Smiles, but the impact on our young adults is just as meaningful. Through every act of kindness, they build compassion, confidence, and a deeper connection to their community. In the end, this mission always leaves everyone smiling.

Sometimes the simplest lessons become the most important life skills. 🥗

Making a healthy salad gave our young adults the opportunity to practice proper handwashing, safely prepare fresh vegetables, build knife skills, and work together as a team. Along the way, there were plenty of smiles, laughter, and friendships being strengthened.

The greatest reward was sitting down together to enjoy a delicious, healthy meal they created themselves. Building independence, one skill at a time. 💚

Congratulations to Ms. Maryann Nolan in receiving the Golden Apple Award from Ms. Wendy Ringel. Having such a hands on BCBA is an amazing gift. Miss Maryann can be seen in the hallways and classrooms all day long, observing and making suggestions - constantly providing positive feedback to students who are having good days and giving support to the ones who are having bad days. Her positive attitude and care for the students is contagious.

Do you remember the last time you made homemade lemonade? 🍋

For some of our young adults, this was their very first experience. From squeezing fresh lemons to mixing the perfect recipe, they learned new skills while creating lasting memories. The best part wasn’t just making the lemonade or enjoying a refreshing glass—it was sharing it with friends.

Sometimes, the sweetest lessons come from the simplest moments.

The skills learned during ESY were endless—from practicing classroom routines to gaining real-world experience through work-based learning. Every lesson, every task, and every success helped our young adults grow in confidence, independence, and readiness for the future. We are so proud of all they accomplished this summer!

When someone has a true passion for woodworking, it shines through in everything they create—and even more so in the lives they inspire.

Mr. Parker’s enthusiasm and craftsmanship have sparked that same passion in his students. Through patience, creativity, and hands-on learning, he is helping our young adults build far more than woodworking skills.
