Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation

IALF serves as the central resource for educators and volunteers who want to teach Iowa's students ab

IALF is a coordinated, statewide approach by business, education and the agriculture industry that is designed by augment and aggregate existing agriculture education efforts while encouraging new efforts that promote agriculture literacy in Iowa schools. IALF's overall goal is to serve as a centralized resource to help increase the knowledge and awareness of today's agriculture and its importance for students.

Chickens raised for meat are called broilers. They’re typically white and are raised in large, open barns where they can eat and roam together. Broilers are an important part of our food system and help provide the chicken on our dinner tables!

Have you ever wondered what the silk strands on a corn cob are? 🌽🐝

Every strand of corn silk connects to one potential kernel. Each kernel on an ear of corn must be pollinated individually for it to develop. That means a single ear of corn can have hundreds of silk strands!
