West Des Moines Valley Class of '76

The West Des Moines Valley High School Class of 1976 Reunion Committee is creating a very special reunion for you, our classmates! The reunion will be held at two iconic West Des Moines venues. On Thursday evening, September 24, in Valley Junction and on Friday evening, September 25, at our beloved Val Air Ballroom!

If you are thinking the Val Air Ballroom is just “that old building where we went to prom,” it is not! The Val Air Ballroom just underwent a $15M renovation including a $1M upgrade to its sound system. Thursday evening will be the first official “Meet and Greet” to see classmates and friends from years ago. Meet us at the VHS VIP TENT! There will be live music during Valley Junction’s weekly Thursday Farmer’s Market. Beverages and food will be available for purchase at various participating vendors at The Market. The Reunion Committee is devoted to lifting your Tiger Spirits and hopes you plan on attending BOTH nights!

On Friday at the Val Air, for our reminiscing and dancing pleasure, our very own 1976 VHS classmate Jack Halter (aka Des Moines KGGO Radio’s Jack Emerson) will be orchestrating all our favorite hits from the early to late 1970’s, putting that new sound system to good use!

Also on Friday evening, the committee is planning a deliciously curated menu with perhaps a signature drink! There will be an “In Memory” video of our classmates who have sadly passed away, with thanks to our own world-renowned Paul Hickey’s professional multi-media presentation, accompanied by vocal music. Throughout the evening, we will be sharing YOUR personally submitted memories, stories and tiger tales via the sound system!

Watch for REGISTRATION DETAILS! You are invited to bring one guest both evenings. There will be a $50.76 registration fee per attendee, which covers both evenings. $50 per attendee will be refunded to you at the event. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at both events. Nonalcoholic beverages will also be available.

There will be something for every classmate and your friends to enjoy! Most importantly, the opportunity to reconnect with ‘old’ friends and perhaps make new ones!

50th Class Reunion
Raise your hand if you have EVER used the Preamble to the Constitution they made us memorize in 8th grade at “Hillside”!

Wow—fifty years already? Can you believe it? Time really does fly!!

Remember June 1, 1976? We walked across the stage in the Big Gym (with that unforgettable “orange peel” floor), rocking our orange or white caps and gowns—and those extra red, white, and blue tassels because, hey, we were the Bicentennial class!

Now it’s time to relive the good times, catch up with old friends, and make some brand-new memories. We’re throwing not one, but TWO nights of laughs, stories, music, dancing, food, drinks, and all-around fun—because we’re ready to “Party Like It’s 1976!”
