The effort and never-give-up attitude displayed by the Valley High School - WDMCS girls soccer team this season was inspiring to say the least. It ended with a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Waukee Northwest in the Class 3A Championship, but every member of this team can hold their head high.
Congratulations to Coach Chapman and company on a great season!

๐จ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐ฅ๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐ซ๐ญ! Before crossing the high school graduation stage, 77 of our students earned their associate degrees from Des Moines Area Community College. On top of that, Valley High School - WDMCS students earned 105 professional certificates in high-demand fields like emergency medicine, nursing, and education.
Through our powerful concurrent enrollment partnership with DMACC, high school students can take college-level coursesโat no cost to families.
๐ฐ๐๐ก๐ ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐๐ญ? In 2024-25 (last year), the program saved WDMCS students more than $2.6 million in DMACC tuition.

Olivia Rotich scored the only goal of the game as the Valley girls soccer team held off Ankeny Centennial 1-0 in the semifinal round, setting up a showdown with topโranked Waukee Northwest for the championship. The title game is set for 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13 in Ames.

๐ Huge congratulations to Valley High School - WDMCS student Montserrat Lepe-Guerrero for winning 1st place in the PI 515 Girlsโ Entrepreneurship Incubator program!
Inspired by her experience working at her familyโs restaurant, Mi Mexico, Montserrat noticed a challenge and created a solution: a customizable point-of-sale simulator designed to help small businesses streamline employee onboarding.
Her innovative project earned her a $5,000 scholarship!๐

๐Familiar face, new place! Weโre excited to introduce Jenna Pressley as the new director of human resources at WDMCS.
Jenna has been the principal at Western Hills Elementary for the past five years. She is regarded for her ability to cultivate belonging, engagement, and multicultural respect for all employees, students, and families. Jenna moves into her new role July 1, 2026.

Currently a learning supports coordinator at the Southeast Polk School District, Dr. Laird will move into her new role July 1. She brings 17 years of experience to WDMCS and is known for her deep understanding of both student and adult learning.

Valley beat Linn-Mar 4-1 in the first round of the Class 3A Girls State Soccer Tournament. The Tigers will face Ankeny Centennial at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, June 11. The winner goes to the state championship game!
