The happiest of holiday seasons to all!
2020 threw many curveballs! We learned to do pretty much everything online, and many of my fellow teachers got creative with social distancing in lessons.
While we are not back in person yet, my wish for 2021 is that we may all be happy and healthy enough to resume face-to-face lessons. In the meantime, I’m so grateful for my students and parents who have been patient with me and diligent about practice, even during one of the most complicated years. Many times this year, lessons were a good source of laughter and a bright moment in what may have otherwise been a difficult week. Thank you for the privilege of being your teacher.
A very Merry Christmas and happy new year, and may 2021 bring health and hope to us all!

Rachel Cohen Music Instruction
I work to provide a space in which aspiring musicians can channel their creativity, develop their skills, and expand their musical repertoire.
Parents and students!
We are currently in the process of figuring out some ways to use Zoom, FaceTime, etc. to do virtual lessons. At this time, all in-person lessons are canceled in an effort to follow continued recommendations for social distancing.
If anyone has any suggestions about how they’ve made virtual lessons work, please share!
Keep making music!
Greetings, all!
There have been lots of changes in the community lately, and I wanted to keep you posted on how we’re handling things in the music lesson world.
I’m currently exploring alternative options for lessons (FaceTime, Zoom, etc), but at this time, if students are healthy and have not traveled, we’re still holding lessons. Everything is getting disinfected between lessons, and we’re limiting activities that involve touching common spaces or items.
I’d love to hear some suggestions from others as to what has worked so far for doing lessons remotely, and I’m happy to answer any questions you may have. Reply here or privately message me.
Wash your hands!

We’re back in business today after a brief hiatus for vacation and illness!
I’d love to hear your recommendations for the must-have piano and voice pieces for young musicians this year. We’re looking forward to getting another recital scheduled soon, and it’s never too early to pick out some pieces!

Today, Arunima and I bid farewell to one another after six years together as a teacher/student duo. I've worked with Arunima since she was in kindergarten. She was one of my very first piano students, and now she and her family are off on new adventures! We had a lot of fun on our last day today playing music Jenga and rhythm hangman, and exchanging gifts and well-wishes. It will be strange and sad not to see her every Monday. Thank you to Arunima and her family for their faith in me and support of music over the last several years.
Arunima, I wish you all the best in the years to come and can't wait to see where life takes you! You've grown so much as a musician, and I want to thank you for the opportunity to let me grow as a teacher! Enjoy your new journey!
