Motherās Night Fire Ceremony | Yule, Dec 21st 6pm-?
I am a very private person when it comes to my outward spiritual practice. This year, I feel called to extend myself and offer a place at my home to gather in ceremony on the darkest night of the year. It will be simple and intentional. We will sit by the fire together and create space for quiet reflection and personal offering. You are welcome to join me stay for as short or as long of a time as your like.
Motherās Night is one of the oldest nights of Yuleātraditionally held on the longest, darkest night of the year. It is a time to honor the Mothers: our ancestors, the women who came before us, the lineages we carry, and our own mothersāby birth, by choice, or by influence. This night holds space for gratitude, remembrance, grief, and love in all their complexity.
Historically, Motherās Night marks the turning of the year. At the winter solstice, the darkness reaches its fullest depthāand then begins to recede. This darkness is not something to fear; it is the womb. A place of gestation, protection, and becoming. The return of the light is not a sudden escape, but a birthāslow, inevitable, and life-giving.
We honor this passage because it mirrors our own. From the darkness of the womb, we are carried into the light, changed and breathing anew. In the same way, this night invites us to sit with what has been forming in usāwhat has been held quietly, what has reached its time, and what is ready to emerge.
Motherās Night also calls us to honor the maternal lines that brought us here. We acknowledge the care, resilience, sacrifices, and lessons passed down through our mothers and ancestors, while also allowing ourselves to release what no longer needs to be carried forward.
You are invited to bring something to offer to the flames:
a written word, name, or intention, something symbolic of what you are releasing, a prayer, hope, or gratitude you wish to carry into the returning light. The fire is a witness, not a demand. You may speak, sing, chant, or you may sit in silence. All are welcome. This is not about performance or beliefāit is about presence.
Motherās Night reminds us that darkness is not an endingāit is a beginning. And the light returns because something within us is ready to be born.
Come as you are. Bring only what feels true.
As I am inviting you to my home, I ask that you personally reach out to me for my address if you are plan to attend.
Blessings. Jill
