RSM Princeton

RSM Princeton RSM-Princeton is a branch of the Russian School of Mathematics, an award winning, after-school math program for K-12 students.

Since 1997, RSM has helped children develop math fluency, intellect, and character, empowering them for life. Twenty-five years ago, the Russian School of Mathematics (RSM) emerged from a partnership between a passionate parent and a gifted teacher. As a mother, Inessa Rifkin believed that it was her responsibility to provide her children with the tools to succeed. As a teacher, Irina Khavinson be

lieved that the combination of a good teacher and great curriculum can unlock the potential in every child. As immigrants, they both were convinced that the road to a great education begins with a strong foundation in mathematics. The school we have built is based on a simple observation: a math curriculum should be focused on understanding, not memorization. In Russia, every mathematical formula and rule had to be proven. Students were taught to ask "why?," which develops logic, reasoning, and problem-solving skills instead of "how?," which only develops short-term memory. We decided to open a school to raise a generation of learners able to reason logically and abstractly to solve problems. We have spent over a decade developing a unique curriculum to achieve this goal. In today's competitive world, we take great pride in knowing that our program has demonstrated measurable results for thousands of our graduates. We hope we can be a resource for your family.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to attend an RSM class?

In our classrooms, students can find a fun, supportive, and intellectually stimulating environment, where:
· Students are encouraged to ask questions and share their ideas with each other.
 · Guided by their teacher, students learn to debate, explain, and verbalize their thinking to their classmates.
 · Students learn to think on their feet and persevere through challenges.

We recently had the pleasure of attending National Night Out with our Princeton community!

It was such a great evening, connecting with local families, playing math games together, and soaking up the energy of the event. A big thank you to the Princeton Police Department for organizing it and bringing everyone together.

We're so proud to be part of a community like this!

We are thrilled to recognize Aarya Jaiswal, honored as one of the brightest students in the world by Johns Hopkins CTY!
This achievement puts Aarya among the top scorers nationally and internationally, out of roughly 16,000 students from more than 75 countries who take part each year, with fewer than 30% qualifying for high or grand honors. She has been part of the RSM family for 3 years now, and this milestone is a reflection of her hard work and growth along the way.

Aarya credits her success to the solid foundation she built at RSM Princeton through consistent practice, supportive teachers, and focused independent work.

We're incredibly proud of her, and we can't wait to see what she accomplishes next!

We are so grateful to our families for sharing their experiences and being part of the RSM community.

Does your child have enough time this summer to just play?☀️

In her latest reflection, RSM founder Inessa Rifkin writes about how today's packed schedules crowd out free play, and why that unstructured time builds confidence, resilience, and social skills.

We saw it firsthand in our Summer program: during a break between math lessons, our principal and teachers set the notebooks aside and joined students for volleyball in the courtyard. On the court, there was no "teacher" and "student", just one team, everyone equal: running, missing shots, laughing, and cheering each other on.
Real learning and real play, side by side.👥

Is it too early to start math in Kindergarten?🎲⚖️

At RSM, early math doesn’t begin with memorizing rules. It begins with seeing, touching, moving, and explaining.

Students roll dice, work with balance scales, compare quantities, notice patterns, and connect what they see back to numbers.

This is an important part of the RSM approach: math is not only something students write on paper. They see math, touch math, move math, and talk about math.

This is how young learners begin to build real understanding.

Schedule a free evaluation, no pressure, just a chance to watch a class in action.

Every game has problems to solve⚽📐

That perfect free kick everyone's talking about this summer? It's actually a math problem in disguise. The angle of the kick, the speed of the ball, gravity pulling it back down, they all combine into one elegant equation (yes, the same kind of trajectory math shown above!).

And with the World Cup Final taking place right here in New Jersey this summer, it felt like the perfect moment to point it out. At RSM, we love showing students that math isn't just something you do at a desk. It's in every pass, every shot, and every strategy on the field.

The best summer investment? Confidence📈

☀️RSM Summer Program turns math into exploration.
Students take on math challenges, team up for logic tournaments, and discover that math can be fun.

They’re building skills that pay off all year — and loving it!

We started this Monday, and we’re just getting warmed up.
It’s not too late for you to join us.
