Kindergarten and Fifth Grade Promotion, and our beloved lowering of the flag tradition on the last day of school. ❤️ What an incredible year it has been — full of growth, accomplishments, memories, and so much joy. We couldn’t be prouder of our students, staff, and community.

If you know, you know… Whittier is such a special place. 🫶 Have the best summer, Falcons! See you in August!

Dear Whittier Community,

As I reflect on this past school year, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible experiences we've shared. Serving as your principal for my first year has been a remarkable journey, and I couldn't have asked for a more welcoming and supportive community to embark on this chapter of my career. From the moment I set foot in Whittier, I sensed a profound sense of belonging, and it has only deepened over time.

Whittier is truly a unique and special place. That distinction comes from our exceptional students, dedicated teachers, passionate staff members, supportive parents, and the entire community that surrounds us. Together, we have fostered an atmosphere of growth, learning, and resilience, and I couldn't be prouder of what we have achieved as a team.

With mixed emotions, I want to share that I have accepted a position closer to my home. This decision was not made lightly; in fact, it has been the hardest decision I have faced in my career. The relationships we've built and the memories we've created together will always hold a special place in my heart. I will dearly miss the laughter, the celebrations, and the everyday moments that made this year so fulfilling.

As I transition to this new role, I carry with me the lessons I've learned from Whittier. While my time at Whittier may be coming to an end, I will always cheer for your continued success and growth. I am excited about what the future holds for this incredible community, and I truly believe that the best days are yet to come.

Thank you once again for your unwavering support and for making my first year as a principal one I will cherish forever. Let's continue to nurture the spirit of Whittier that makes it shine so brightly.

Wishing you all the best,

Mr. G

Quarter 4 Academic Challenge Reward: COLOR RUN 🌈

Photos from Whittier Elementary School's post 05/22/2026

Today we celebrated our Quarter 4 Academic Challenge reward — the COLOR RUN! 🌈✨

Each grade level worked toward a math-focused stretch goal, and our students worked so hard to achieve them. We’ve spent this month talking a lot about grit, perseverance, and not giving up when things get hard, and today was such a fun reminder that hard work pays off!!

So proud of all of our students and the growth they’ve made this year. These smiles say it all 💛

Today we had our End of the Year Awards Assembly, and we celebrated so much! While today highlighted some special recognitions, we are proud of every single student and all they have accomplished this year.

We recognized our May Students of the Month with a focus on grit, and each grade level honored an outstanding group of students. It was incredible to hear all of the celebrations and kind words teachers shared about their students.

We also celebrated students who scored above or well above typical progress on Reading Acadience, students who earned the Academic Challenge each quarter this school year, students who graduated WIDA, our Safety Patrol for their service, and our Mathelete team for their achievements — including two students placing in the top 25% nationwide in the Mathelete program! We also recognized students with 100% attendance all year long.

In addition, we recognized some of our amazing educators who are moving on to new adventures next year.

Thank you to our Whittier community for showing up and celebrating with us. We still have 5 more school days together, but we loved taking time today to celebrate such an incredible year.

Today at our weekly assembly, we had the privilege of celebrating some truly incredible educators and their dedication to students in Granite School District.

Our amazing librarian, Kristen Hunt, was recognized for 25 years of service. Ann Lawrence, Marion Carver, and Julianne Clawson were honored for 20 years of service. Melanie Willey was also awarded two medals for having 100% of her students achieve their Pathways of Progress goals on Acadience testing last school year.

Whittier is so lucky to have educators who dedicate so much time, heart, and care to our students and school community every day. 💙✨
