**REMINDER** All sites are closed this upcoming Monday for holiday and will reopen again Tuesday, June 16th with breakfast for lunch on the menu! As always, all children and teens 18 and under eat for free and adults pay only $3.50.

Our summer lunch kickoff is today is at Centennial Park at 11:30 am! Please join us for food and fun! All kids 18 and under eat free!

Starting next week, we will be offering FREE summer meals again! All children and teens 18 and under eat for free; adult meals will be available for $3.50. Come join us from June 8th through July 31st!

A big change in our department is happening as we had to say farewell this past week to our Director of Child Nutrition, Dana Canino. 👏

We are so grateful to Dana for her leadership for the past 10 years. Dana ushered in so much positive change in the time she was here. Whether it was helping us triumph over unprecedented challenges such as COVID-19, an earthquake, or even implementing a new operational model at a rapid pace, we were able to navigate any hardship without missing a beat! We would not have come out better and stronger without her leading the way! 🙌We are excited to send Dana off to enjoy adventures in Alaska and any new endeavors she chooses, but we will miss her! We are forever grateful for the immeasurable impact she has made on not only on school meals but on so many people - students, our department, and staff- across our district. Thank you Dana!! 💓

As we approach the end of the school year, the moments can definitely feel bittersweet when we have to say farewell to some of our amazing staff. Last week Jackling Elementary recognized their Kitchen Manager Patsy who will be retiring after 29 years with Nutrition Services! We know the students will miss her dearly - we definitely will! We wish Patsy the happiest retirement and thank her for all the hard work she has done in child nutrition!

We wrapped up final our student food waste audits these year at Stansbury Elementary School to measure the impact we've made through a share table and fridge! We're excited to continue our efforts not only at Stansbury but across the district to reduce food waste and food insecurity! Thank you to all the admin and custodians who've worked with us and of course, the NourishSmart team from Create Better Health and Hunger Solutions in Action for making this possible! ♻️🗑🚯

Shout out to more of our fruit slushie taste tasters at Gearld L. Wright STEM Academy! A couple weeks ago students at Wright were excited to try another brand of fruit slushies with flavors such as mango guava, raspberry, strawberry, and watermelon fuego (don't worry, it wasn't actually spicy!) Mango Guava was the clear favorite. We love trying out new products with students!🥭

The Nutrition Team at Matheson Junior High School held another fun giveaway a couple weeks ago during School Lunch Hero Day! Students who ate breakfast or lunch could enter to win a vibrant panda bear! We think providing nutrition and fun is a win-win!
