Amendment B: Vote YES
A vote for this amendment allows more of the $3.3 billion currently held in the state trust lands fund to be spent on todayβs students. Utah PTA supports the change on annual distributions from the State School Fund from 4% to 5%. It is NOT a tax increase; it is a spending increase from the money already collected. Elementary schools in Granite District would receive $5,000-$10,000 more per school. High schools in Granite District would receive $30,000-$60,000 more per school, and that money is spent by local school community councils for academic needs of students. Other supporters of this amendment include the Utah Treasurer, the Utah State Board of Education, the Utah School Boards Association, and Utah School Superintendents Association.
