Tactical Defense Institute

Tactical Defense Institute TACTICAL DEFENSE INSTITUTE is dedicated to providing the finest tactical training available anywhere. We key on three primary areas of personal defense.
(227)

The first and most important is mindset. Without the willingness to win all else is lost. Second is tactics, whether on the street, in structures or around vehicles. Third is the ability to handle fi****ms. Our students attain an extremely high degree of proficiency with their fi****ms.

Pictures or videos are always a plus.
If the individual had access to a rifle when they arrived home this could have been much worse.
With my luck they would have a .50 cal and 1760 yards of straight road away from their house.
Plan accordingly and avoid one way gunfire.

Congratulations to our Handgun 1-2 students.
Thanks to Lon and Pete for providing a safe and effective training environment.
We had plenty of families with new shooters and a few that trusted us to provide them a handgun that might be their next purchase. Borrowing a handgun from us is included with the class and might save you from purchasing a gun that isn’t comfortable or a good fit for your hand.
6 Ohio residents will be able to apply for their CCW permits after completing the required paperwork.

Optics, magnifiers, and back-up irons are all popular choices, along with LPVOs.
The SIG optic along with some Armscor ammo was giving the owner some frustration on zeroing and accuracy. Remember 55 grain in a 1-7 twist is going to have you questioning is it me, the ammo, or the gun. Try another brand of ammo or a heavier bullet weight after verifying the optic is secure.
If you want to mount your MAGPUL sights backwards it robs you of rail space when stored.
Running a dot and magnifier without a backup iron? That’s up to you, it’s cheap insurance if the dot dies. Have spare batteries and change them annually or semi-annually.
The EOTech Optic directions were not for bullet impact, but dot movement. We always remember that after the bullets move in the wrong direction.
This S&W Performance Center rifle had the buffer tube come loose after a few rounds. Remember never use Loctite or any other adhesive, torque and stake the castle nut if the end plate is steel, don’t stake an aluminum end plate.
Always mount your optics on the upper receiver, not bridging the upper receiver and forend, and definitely not on the forend.
Check your optics and accessories and index mark everything after you verify the position.

Day 3 of Tac Rifle 1 wrapped things up this weekend. Thanks to all who attended this overflow class. Big congrats to the single student that cleaned our Rifle Skills Standards to earn his TDI poker chip.
Nearly full Handgun Levels 1&2 next weekend and Vehicle Combatives the weekend after. I’m lucky to get to do what I do! Shout out to my AI Jonathan who crushed it for me this weekend! Be safe and train hard!

Part of the instructional demo on malfunctions during TD2 of our overflow Tac Rifle 1 course.

Quality rifles run well, but they can all have problems. Put in the work so you know how to clear them.

A little content from day 2 of our overflow Tac Rifle 1 class. Fundamentals of close quarters engagements, reloads, malfunctions, shoulder transitions and movement skills to name a few. Hope to see a few students back in October at TR2!

Matt Haught of SymTac Consulting gave TDI instructors Chris and Jonathan the time to run their Skills Gauge challenge during lunch at Shotgun Jamboree down at TDI last weekend. Chris had a clean run in 5.16. Too bad the time standard is 5.00 or less. Not bad for shooting it cold.
He didn’t have his pump gun readily available, so he borrowed Jonathan’s for a pump gun run. 5.47 (par time is 6.00 or less) but pulled the short stock shot 1.5” right. Next time fellas!!!

Probably a good reason to keep ammo in the original box until you are ready to use it for training, practice, hunting, or defense.
Can you tell if it 4 or 6?
If you are shooting on steel you definitely want to know what you are shooting.
