This past weekend, students in our Trailblazers Group had a spooktacular time working as some ghouls and ghosts in the Maumee Bay State Park Haunted Forest. This event benefits Project SOAR, a global non-profit which aims to empower students to stay in school and build life skills.

Seniors Karmen and Dietrich, took part in a major conservation effort as a responsibility of their internship this summer at the Toledo Zoo. Through the TURTLE Program, they participated in a mark-and-recapture study of local turtle and snake species, practiced ichthyological husbandry, and used radio telemetry. They've been able to continue their internship this fall by caring for juvenile Lake Sturgeon, including the photographed session of injecting Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tags into endangered Lake Sturgeon being raised by the Toledo Zoo. Over the weekend there was a major release of Lake Sturgeon in which they took part as well!

Five years of Five Star Performance!

With the release of the annual State of Ohio School and District Report Cards, we are excited to announce that we've once again earned an Overall Five Star Rating, the highest rating possible within the State's assessment.

Our students continue to perform at a level matched only by the best and brightest throughout the state:

- Our 100% College or Career placement rate and $2,100,000 in total scholarships earned by our 33 student Graduating Class of 2026 showcases the outcomes a graduate of TTAE can expect.

- The Top 5 performance of our students on State Assessments throughout the Metro Toledo Area (Lucas, Wood, Ottawa Counties) shows the aptitude our students have and the education they receive.

- Doing it over 5 years shows the consistency and ability of our instructors in working with every student, no matter their level of preparation, home address, background, or interests upon arriving to TTAE as a student. We have the best and brightest teaching students in Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Language Arts, History, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Foreign Language, Health, Physical Education, and Environmental Science and Engineering. Experts in their fields, expert educators, and part of the best team around.

It also shows where we stand as an institution. Over the past five years, only four high schools in all of Northwest Ohio have managed to achieve this feat of consistent excellence. We are proud to be a part of that company along with our TPS Proud colleagues at Toledo Early College and the educators at Ottawa Hills High School and Perrysburg High School as well.

An unspoken truth here at TTAE is that we have the best, most well-trained educators in the area for our students to learn from and with about all manner of subject. You'll learn from highly trained Biologists, Chemists, Geologists, Engineers, Environmental Scientists, Historians, and Mathematicians who chose a higher purpose to educate the next generation.

We are incredibly proud of all of our educators, but, this past Friday one of our teachers made us especially proud. Archis Ambulkar, one of our 9th and 10th Grade Engineering Instructors, was recently published as a lead author for the United Nations' Report on 3rd World Ocean Assessment. This report is essential to the continued health of the Ocean, and will be used as a benchmark for international policy regarding the care and utilization of the Oceans. Mr. Ambulkar's specific section of writing focused on desalination as a form of water supply.

Prior to his time as an educator at TTAE, Mr. Ambulkar was trained as and worked in the areas of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, specifically in water treatment and assessment. He now teaches students about the principles of energy and robotics and is our head coach for the highly successful VEX Robotics Team.

Geometry students in Lisa Foos’ class recently combined mathematics, creativity, and a little fun while constructing icosahedrons — one of the five fascinating Platonic Solids!

This special version highlights the interior structure formed by three golden rectangles, giving students a hands-on look at the beauty and complexity of geometric design.

We are proud of the hard work, creativity, and problem-solving our students continue to demonstrate every day at TTAE!

Last week, students on our SMARTS Team enjoyed their end of year celebration learning the lifelong game of golf at The First Tee of Toledo. Students took the day celebrating their successes in supporting a positive school climate alongside being trained on the basics of the golf swing and general course etiquette.

This past weekend, 8th Graders in Mr. Brandt's American History course took a trip to our nation's capital, Washington D.C. to witness the many monuments and memorials dedicated to the historical figures they've learned about this year along with the many US citizens who served our country fighting to protect freedoms in the battles and wars that shaped our nation and the world.
