I want to start a class action lawsuit against FindAGrave. I welcome real suggestions on how to start this.
They have rules about posting other people's photos without their permission - yet they allow it to happen. I've had a number of photos taken off of my Facebook account - only to find them posted on various (my) family members FindAGrave memorials. I normally wouldn't care too much but one person posted my aunt's picture (who is alive - another express rule) to my grandmother's grave memorial and claimed the picture was my grandmother.
The same person posted a picture (my picture of him) of my dad with-in weeks of his death. FindAGrave has some sensitivity rules about when to post memorials and it's not within a few weeks of death. I didn't bury my father until the following May - and I still don't have his death date on the tombstone. See this article: https://dna-explained.com/2022/06/02/find-a-grave-owned-by-ancestry-seriously-just-stop-incentivizing-the-creation-of-memorials-of-the-recently-deceased/comment-page-1/?unapproved=219552&moderation-hash=29b6fb9df9375590365236058f5092da -219552
She also made a memorial for my sister, using my picture of my sister, also mine. Did I mention FindAGrave has specific rules about posting copyrighted pictures (pictures that belong to me not her)?
This woman is a member of the Grubb's family, who is married to the Heisner family. She is not in any way related by blood, only by marriage, to the Heisners, yet she posts pictures of herself on my great great great grandparent Heisner's and claims they were her grandparents (who does that?). She also has managed to take ownership of multiple Helmig memorials and refuses to edit them with corrections that I submit - or she refuses to transfer them to me.
The another thing she does is change the memorial tombstone picture to a picture of the deceased. Serious genealogists need/want the tombstone picture in order to "document" and cannot save the tombstone in a proper documented manner because of these changes she makes.
Anyone of my family members who knows who she is fele free to screenshot this and share it with her. All she has to do is cooperate and transfer all the Helmig memorials - and my direct ancestor's on the Heisner and Starks side. And remove all the photos she copy and pasted from people's Facebook accounts.
I've already contacted FindAGrave about her - but I decided enough is enough - I'm contacting a lawyer to start a class action lawsuit. She is not the only idiot posting live people pictures on memorials and making memorials before the person is even buried.
She would probably benefit from knowing I'm not the only one angry about the memorial of my sister, and her copyright violations of pictures. She claims to be a Christian - well how about it?
I’ve been horrified, as has any sentient being, about the massacre in Uvalde, Texas. I’ve also been increasingly furious these past few days because the practice of awarding “points” by Find a Grav…
