After much prayer, thoughtful discussion, and with heavy hearts, the West Sayville Christian School Corporation has voted to close the school at the conclusion of the 2024–25 academic year. WSCS will not reopen for the 2025–26 school year.
Founded in 1946, WSCS has served families in our community for nearly 80 years with a mission of providing Christ-centered, quality education. We are grateful for the generations of students, families, faculty, and supporters who have walked with us through the decades. The impact of this ministry is lasting and deep.
In recent years, however, the school has faced increasing financial challenges. While faithful donors have sustained the mission through generous support, the current financial model is no longer viable. Despite efforts to grow enrollment, expand programs, and explore various operational changes, the resources needed to responsibly and sustainably continue simply do not exist.
After careful consideration and much prayer, the School Board recommended — and the Corporation has affirmed — that WSCS cannot responsibly open for the 2025–26 school year.
This decision, while heartbreaking, was made to honor our staff, provide clarity for our families, and ensure a respectful and well-supported closure of the school.
At this time, the projected deficit for the 2025–26 school year is approximately $250,000. While the decision to close was not made lightly, if a significant and sustainable financial commitment were to be made soon, the School Board and Corporation would be willing to prayerfully reconsider this decision.
Our focus now is to finish the current school year strong, support our students and staff through the transition, and celebrate the rich legacy of WSCS.
