March is Youth Art Month in Wisconsin, sponsored by the Wisconsin Art Education Association. The West Salem Art Department celebrates the event with our annual K-12 Honors Art Show. Each of the four teachers in the School District of West Salem select 25 pieces to be in this show, to display over 100 works of art in the Marie W. Heider Center for the Arts Gallery!

And the winner is…
WSHS Senior Makenna Olson’s photograph was selected as the 2025 Artwork of the Year. The piece was unveiled and Makenna was presented with a certificate at last Friday’s school wide assembly.
This piece was selected out of 20 entries, and will hang in the “Hall of Fame” at West Salem High School for years to come, where it will be seen by thousands!

Congratulations to Makenna! Great photos don’t just “happen”. They are a result of years of dedication to one’s craft.
