Happening this weekend!!! You will not want to miss working with Brenda and Mari Scott!

One of our amazing presenters this weekend is Brenda Bush. She is the Music Specialist at Westview Elementary in District 196. She has been active in music education for 30 years. Brenda earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal / Choral and Music Education from Alverno College and Master of Arts in Music Education from New York University. She holds Orff-Schulwerk Certification from Eastman School of Music. Brenda completed Kodaly Certification at NYU and continued her studies at the Kodaly Institute of Music, Kecskemet, Hungary. She has been an active member on the board of the Kodaly Chapter of MN. Brenda is passionate about singing and can be found digging into the study of traditional musics and world music drumming.

We hope you’ll be able to make it Saturday April 12th from 9am-1pm!

We are soooooo excited - and have been waiting for what feels like forever to be able to share the news about the new concentration in our Graduate Programs in Music Education at UST. Please give a big cheer for the Diverse Perspectives concentration (DP) starting in Spring, 2024! DP is based in music education and performance, ethnomusicology, and equity-based, anti-bias curriculum development. Students can be music educators, community musicians, and arts administrators. The program can be taken as a whole for a graduate degree, OR the courses can be taken individually for professional development OR audited. The people pictured here are just SOME of the incredible folks that work in these courses each year - there are more to come! We would so appreciate if you could help us to spread the word to those you know looking to be deeply engaged with others while: performing a diverse range of musics with applications for teaching and learning settings, digging into the theories and practices behind what hinders or nurtures diversity initiatives in music education, and developing a music curriculum that works toward the development of a critical consciousness, and an educator disposition steeped in empathy.
