Summer parade season is in full swing for the Two Rivers Marching Band and Winterguard, and there are just three chances left to see them perform this summer!

The National Speech and Debate Association has officially recognized four Two Rivers students as Academic All Americans! Out of 141,000 student members of the National Speech and Debate Association, fewer than 1% of students earn Academic All American. Students who earn this award must complete a minimum of five semesters of high school with a 3.7 GPA (or 3.5 GPA with 27 on the ACT), have 750 NSDA points (earned through competing), and demonstrate outstanding character and leadership. The students are:

In the final days of the school year, students Sage, Nia, and Vanessa have been putting the finishing touches on a new student-created mural in the health office.

It’s time to celebrate the Class of 2026! In today's senior feature, we're celebrating Amanda Morales-Pirela.

What will be missed:
"I think I'm going to miss the community I've become a part of in the music department and in theater. Since becoming a Two Rivers student, I was immediately drawn to those activities, because music and theater has been my greatest passion. I've learned so much in Choir, about myself and about music. It's where I've made my closest friends, and my favorite room to spend time in. I'm there in the mornings for Vocal Jazz, then for Choir, and I enjoy eating my lunch in that room as well. It's a quiet and calming space for when I'm feeling stressed or need to decompress. Theater is something I will dearly miss. I've met so many people participating in theater, and I never missed a chance to be a part of a show whether it's doing acting or tech, working behind the scenes to keep the show running smoothly."

Staff shout-out:
"I would love to thank my teachers. There are teachers I've cried to, expressed my frustration to, and ones I've celebrated little things with. Those teachers have made my school year a lot easier, because they've helped me feel supported in this environment and that means so much more than they know. So I want to thank them for being there for me in many ways."

What's next:
"At the moment, I'm not sure what's next for me after graduation. While I do intend to pursue further education in college, I'm still in the decision process. However, while there are many moments of anxiety within that process, there are also many of excitement. I'm excited for more independence, and getting to navigate a world on my own!"

A memory you'll never forget:
"I will never forget homecoming week of my Senior year at Two Rivers High School. It was still the beginning of the school year, and everyone was excited about the year to come. Homecoming week is always one of my favorites because it's full of fun activities and football games with fun themes! I loved that feeling of giddiness and all the laughs I shared with my friends that week as we anticipated what our last year was holding for us. Now, I have a whole year full of beautiful and fun memories I'll look back on with so much more love than my heart can hold."

Last week, Two Rivers High School celebrated a big milestone—the 10th anniversary of the REAL Program Talent Show!

The REAL Program Talent Show gives students in our high school special education program the opportunity to showcase their unique talents, personalities, and hard work while bringing the entire school community together in celebration and support.

Students performed drumming, singing, dancing, jokes, dramatic interpretations, Winterguard, speed puzzling, and more for a packed auditorium. Some students were joined on stage by peers from the Two Rivers Unified Club, which helps bring students with and without disabilities together through shared activities and friendships. The show closed with a performance of “Yorktown” from "Hamilton" that brought the crowd to its feet (check out the video below!).

Congratulations to all of the students and staff who helped make this year’s REAL Program Talent Show such a special celebration!

Two Rivers students are helping bring the new bioretention basin to life this week by planting native, salt-tolerant plants.

In case you missed it: the new bioretention basin is designed to capture and filter runoff from the parking lot before it reaches Valley Creek and the Mississippi River. These landscaped areas use specialized soil, plants, and drainage systems to naturally clean water and help protect our environment.

This project is made possible through funding from the Minnesota Clean Water Fund and the Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District.

What will be missed:
"I will definitely miss the people of Two Rivers and our community. There are so many adults that I will miss seeing daily who have made such a meaningful impact on my success and character. Across all grades there are also so many diverse students that I have met throughout different opportunities, whether that is kids in elementary classes I have volunteered in, high schoolers that are involved in the same clubs as me, and my lifelong friends who I am so thankful to have met and will miss going to school with."

Staff shout-out:
"I would really like to thank every adult who has supported me in growing as a leader. There are so many support systems that have helped me find unique opportunities for growth and leadership and really I would not be who I am today without those. From long ago being a student voice on the name changing committee for the transition of renaming Two Rivers, to serving proudly as a Student Representative on the School Board. All of the adults who have supported me have had a direct impact on who I am as a person and also nurtured my passion for giving back to the community. To all of you, I can not thank you enough!"

What's next:
"I will be attending The University of Tampa to major in International Business Management with a minor in Cybersecurity in the Honors Program with my goals being to pursue an MBA and one day become a city administrator. Tampa is obviously very far away from Minnesota, I am most excited to network and meet new people while furthering my education at a higher level."

A memory you'll never forget:
"The annual MLK Day of Service that Key Club hosts annually has been an amazing outlet for me to help make change within our entire community. It has definitely become one of my favorite traditions and memories that I will miss. With over 750 people attending last year's event, I am super excited to come back and visit the event in 2027 as an attendee instead of a board member and planner. This event really encapsulates the beauty of how connected our community is and highlights the big hearts of everyone in our district."

"I've learned a lot! But making sure you're always giving your best at everything you do."

"I will miss the teachers I got to know and the friends I made over the last four years."

"There are many teachers I can write about for this topic, but TWO teachers I would like to thank are Ms. Temple-Gumm and Ms. Johnson (Julie). I would like to thank each for being such supportive, caring teachers. They supported me during times I would be away from school making sure they were doing everything they could so I can be successful. They both have a strong passion in their teaching, which makes you fully focused in their class. I couldn't be more grateful to have had these 2 amazing teachers at some point during my high school career."

What's next:
"I am still deciding but I plan on either attending NDSU, Hamline, or Augsburg University this fall to study accounting. I am most excited to attend college and can't wait to see what my experience will look like."

If you were on Robert Street yesterday, you might have seen these student-athletes. The Two Rivers football team is big on community service, and their annual clean-up of Robert Street is just one of the many ways they give back.
