Roxbury Latin was delighted to welcome Dr. Lisa Damour to campus on September 29 for a day of conversation and learning. Dr. Damour began the day with a workshop for faculty and staff, followed by two Halls with students—one for Classes I–IV and another for Classes V and VI. That evening, she joined parents and families to discuss how to support young people as they navigate the challenges of adolescence.

Dr. Damour is a celebrated clinical psychologist, author of three New York Times bestsellers- Untangled, Under Pressure, and The Emotional Lives of Teenagers, and the host of the podcast Ask Lisa: Untangling Family Life.

We are grateful to Dr. Damour for sharing her expertise and insight with our community!

Join us at Roxbury Latin for one of two open houses this fall, to learn about the people and program, campus and culture of our school. Serving boys in grades 7 through 12, we care, most of all, what kind of person a boy is. Each year we seek young men who are intellectually curious, willing to put their talents to use and try something new, and who are committed to the values of strong character—honesty, respect, and concern for others.

“Talent is distributed randomly across the population, but opportunity isn’t. And as a twenty-something I had mistaken knowing that inequality existed for understanding it.”

Alumnus Drew Martin ‘98 is the CEO of Thrive Scholars. He began his career in educational access as a fifth-grade teacher in the Bronx with Teach for America; founded Rise Academy at the age of 26; and was at the helm of KIPP New Jersey for nearly 20 years. On September 10 he delivered a powerful, inspiring, important Hall as this year’s Wyner Lecturer—underscoring for RL’s boys the machinery behind their opportunities and success, and the possibility found in becoming part of that machinery for someone else: “You may not know whether the project will succeed mightily or fail. You may never know every life you touch, but such a project is worth a life.”
