Ever feel like life is a little like the storybook, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie?

That’s exactly what reopening Willow House Farm Preschool has felt like lately.

When we moved to our property in December, we knew the house didn’t have a garage. So for now, all of our tools and “garage things” are being stored in the room that will eventually become our preschool classroom.

Which means before we can remodel the preschool room… we need to build a shop first.

Just like in the story, one step leads to the next!

The good news is the shop foundation is finished ✔️, and the walls will be going up soon. Each step gets us a little closer to creating a beautiful space where children can learn, explore, and grow here at Willow House Farm Preschool.

Happy March! Spring is almost here! And with that, we added lots of new baby chicks to the farm preschool over the weekend. They’ll be laying eggs for us by the time preschool starts in September!

At farm preschool we feed chickens, hold chickens, and collect and count their eggs. By next spring we’ll have a chance to watch new baby chicks hatch from their eggs.

Hi, I’m Robin — the heart behind Willow House Farm preschool. 🐓🐖🌻

With years of experience in a classroom and a deep love for childhood spent outdoors, I have loved creating a space where little ones can learn, explore, and grow with hands-on experiences. I believe childhood is more fun and fulfilling when it consists of making mud pies, splashing in puddles, and holding baby bunnies. I believe learning ABC’s and 123’s can be built right into childhood exploration. This is a place where muddy boots and curious minds are welcome.

I’ve had several people reach out asking for a tour of the farm preschool. I am so excited to give tours someday. But not quite yet. We just moved to this property two months ago and are still under construction. We are building a barn, animal shelters, remodeling what will be the preschool room on the back of the house, adding fencing, and adding animals. I’m excited to share the process with you here! Once it’s finished, I will offer an open house to my new students and interested families. Thank you for your patience during this reopening and rebuilding process. 💛

I haven’t posted here in awhile. I’ve mainly posted on Instagram. So here is an update on part of our week this past week...
Our second preschool lesson this week was B is for bird. We talked about all different kinds of birds and bird houses. We worked on strengthening those hand muscles by using tweezers to put “worms” into a “bird’s nest”. We read a birdhouse story, we practiced counting to 18 and recognizing all those individual numbers. (Gosh those teen numbers are hard, but practice makes progress.) We made a bird in a nest craft, worked on AB patterns, and practiced writing our names. My favorite moment during the past two days was watching our goat Crumpet, jump right up on those tires to play with the boys. She thinks she’s just one of the kids and she is so friendly.
