The longest day in the Chess year ended as we returned just before midnight, in part, because we did not have our greatest State showing but we did have a lot of fun chatting, playing MtG, having a sit down dinner with four of the seniors, and a fun, musical ride home.

It has been a great year so far. This Senior Class of '26 has left an indelible mark on Zizzer Chess. When they were freshmen, the brought a K-9 2nd Place State trophy home, plus a couple placed in the top ten in their tiered divisions. This year, Mason Lancaster won individual first and second places at our first two tournaments. Pictured here is Ian Hufstedler winning first at our third tournament.

The Zizzers got first place at the 1st Rook & Roll tournament in Houston. Mason got first, Mikey got third, and Grady got sixth.

We will host the WPHS Winter Classic on December 20th at the West Plains High School Cafeteria.

We had a pretty good showing at State this year. If you wish to look over the stats, go to https://www.gatewaychess.org/results.
West Plains got 8th as a team, last year was 12th, and we had TWO members medal this year (one last year): Reilly Jolliff (Board Two) and Mason Lancaster (Board Three). I will post a couple of photos when I get a chance. The other membes who attended were Ian Hufstedler (Board One), Birvon Strong, Sam Wood, Grady Williams, and Eli Collins (all four on Board Four). A special shout out and thank you to Mrs. Sylvia Fleming for taking the team up there this weekend!
