Students have worked so incredibly hard this year to prepare for MAP! We can’t begin to express how proud of them we are for their effort!

Fifth and sixth grade hoped to celebrate the end of MAP testing at our Track Meet today, but the weather had other plans. Our wonderful teachers still made it a fun day by surprising students with a teacher relay wearing inflatable costumes!

Go, Z!

Throughout the month of September, Ms. Huddleston and Ms. Orchard focused classroom instruction on Mental Health Awareness. Below are some of the highlights.

7th and 8th graders discussed topics related to mental health and well being. Specifically, they learned about why mental health matters, how to advocate for themselves and others, and what coping skills they can use when they are struggling with various emotions.

5th and 6th graders explored what "mental health" means and discussed why, like physical health, it's important people take care of it. They discussed typical emotions vs. more serious concerns that come with mental illness and what to do if they have concerns for their own or others' mental well-being. Lastly, they explored ways to maintain positive mental health and listed coping skills they use. The image attached was shared with 5th and 6th graders to help them identify a variety of coping strategies.

This month, we will celebrate Red Ribbon Week and remind students of the importance of making safe, healthy, and responsible choices.
