Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) is a federally chartered non-profit civilian youth organization for young people, ages 10 through 18. We are sponsored by the Navy League of the United States and supported by both the U.S. USNSCC is comprised of two programs. The Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) program is for young people ages 13 through 18. Also included under the USNSCC umbrella is our junior program

the Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC), for young people ages 10 through 13. While cadets are not required to join the armed services upon graduation, they do so at very high rates. Naval Sea Cadet Corps continues to further the image of our maritime services by adhering to a standardized training program designed to:

- Develop an interest and ability in seamanship and seagoing skills
- Instill virtues of good citizenship and strong moral principles in each cadet
- Demonstrate the value of an alcohol-free, drug-free and gang-free lifestyle
- Expose cadets to the prestige of public service and a variety of career paths through hands-on training with our nation's armed services

The NLCC and the NSCC programs are similar, but vary in that their training sessions are tailored to be age-appropriate. The junior cadet program (NLCC) introduces its members to naval life through instruction in basic seamanship and leadership. NLCC members are able to participate in monthly drill sessions and during school breaks and in a one-week orientation class as well as in specially-designed annual training sessions. The purpose of the NLCC program is to prepare its cadets for success upon entering NSCC by exposing them to the fundamentals of seamanship and leadership. The training program is less arduous than NSCC's, but still includes a wide variety of away-from-home, one-week training opportunities designed to give cadets exposure to Navy life. If you are between the ages of 10 and 13, NLCC is the ideal place to start. The senior cadet program (NSCC) exposes its cadets to the full rigors of a military training program. Cadets are required to attend a mandatory two-week recruit training camp. After this requirement is met, cadets are eligible to participate in a variety of advanced training sessions. These sessions serve to expose cadets to seamanship and seagoing subjects. They also focus on developing an appreciation for our country's rich naval history, customs and traditions. If you are turning 14 this year, you should start in NSCC. Our program provides numerous benefits to its cadets – both tangible and intangible. Our cadets and alumni often cite the feelings of pride, camaraderie, respect and honor associated with their experience in the program. These immeasurable benefits are very important to us. Early morning on June 6, 1944, the eyes of the world were on a specially trained group of soldiers emerging from a stormy English Channel onto a heavily guarded N**i beachhead in Normandy, France.

Naval Combat Demolition Units (NCDU), nicknamed “frogmen,” were among the first to land on Omaha and Utah beaches at the start of the D-Day invasion during World War II. They were tasked with destroying obstacles ahead of the main allied force’s assault, including embankments, log piles, crisscrossed steel structures known as hedgehogs and anti-tank mines.

Frogmen faced the full force of Germany’s initial counter-invasion resistance. On Omaha Beach, NCDUs suffered a 52% casualty rate, with 31 killed and 60 wounded out of 175 total Navy seamen and officers. Still, they completed their mission.

Following World War II, military planners recognized the need for specialized, covert and unconventional warfare spanning sea, land and air and officially founded the U.S. Navy SEALs in 1962.

On the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, SEAL Family Foundation honors the bravery, valor and sacrifice of all soldiers who stormed beaches in defense of freedom, especially the frogmen NCDUs who cleared a path for an elite fighting force to continue that mission today.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend, Andy Brady. We will miss his witty humor and his love and compassion for the Navy UDT-SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce. He was the first to greet you when you walked in, and the last one to say goodbye at the end of your visit.

Fair winds and following seas, brother. We will miss you. 🤙🏼

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of our beloved Andy Brady. For more than 17 years, Andy dedicated himself to the Museum, leaving an indelible mark on our organization and in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, dedication, and friendship touched countless lives. Andy was deeply loved, and his memory will remain with us always. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
