Florida, you were a blast!

Team Membean traveled to Clearwater High School to kick off another year with Pinellas County’s Intensive Reading teachers. We loved onboarding educators who are new to Membean, catching up with returning teachers, and chatting with so many visitors who stopped by our office hours.

Between all the great conversations and training sessions, we barely remembered to pull out our phones—so these few photos are all the proof we have of an amazing trip.

More than 75 years ago, Ray Bradbury set There Will Come Soft Rains on this exact day. For generations of readers, August 4, 2026 existed only on the pages of a short story. Today, it's on all of our calendars.

Long before smart speakers, robot vacuums, or connected homes, he envisioned a world where technology carried on without us.

There's something strangely surreal about finally arriving at a date that once belonged only to fiction. The story’s questions about technology, humanity, and what endures are just as compelling today as they were when it was first published.

Big words don’t have to be a big mystery.

The English word “boomerang” traces back to the Dharuk word womurrang, meaning “throwing stick.”
