Social Media Policy
Social media sites are powerful tools for building relationships, marketing our program and discussing the important issues facing our members and industry. However, when used improperly, social media can give rise to serious legal and other problems. This Policy was developed to minimize such problems and promote safe spaces in social media for free and open discussions

. Members shall refrain from posting anything on Pipe U social media that:
• Is untruthful, defamatory, libelous or invades a person’s privacy
• Is discriminatory, hateful, harassing or threatening
• Is obscene, profane or vulgar
• Violates copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights
• Attacks our program as an institution or discloses proprietary, confidential or other information that interferes with the performance of its legal or contractual obligations
• Includes spam, flaming or flooding
• Includes advertising or solicitation
Communications on other social media sites or pages shall also be considered violations of this Policy insofar as they infringe on the legal rights and interests of Pipe U, or through threatening or other unprotected speech, contravene the policies or harm the reputation of Pipe U. To the extent you choose to identify yourself as a student of Pipe U and/or a Local Union 630 member on a social media site, you should make it clear, when expressing a personal opinion, that the opinion is yours alone and that you are not purporting to speak on behalf of anyone but yourself. Pipe U reserves the right to delete or block any content and/or user on Pipe U social media when the content and/or user violates this Policy. In addition, Pipe U reserves the right to take disciplinary or other appropriate action against members who violate this Policy. Members should also be aware that communications through a Pipe U social media site or page shall in no way constitute a legal or official notice or comment to Pipe U. The ground rules in this Policy represent only minimum standards of conduct on social media. Please remember that your words and deeds often reflect on your union and fellow members, regardless of your intent. We are all stewards of a proud tradition and it is up to each and everyone of us to represent it well on the job site, in the community and on social media.

Before joining, Michael worked in the scrap metal industry while trying to start his own handyman business.

He chose the apprenticeship program as a way to build a stable career with strong earning potential and long-term security. He enjoys learning the details of new equipment and growing his skills in the field.

Before joining, Joshua was working in the evolving field of substance abuse and mental health treatment. While coaching at a CrossFit gym and competing/training towards NPC bodybuilding.

Looking for a new challenge, he chose the apprenticeship program to push himself—mentally and physically—and prove it’s never too late to start a new path.

He chose the apprenticeship program because he wanted to build a new career for himself. His favorite part is the time spent in the shop—learning the ins and outs of the trade through hands-on experience with instructors.

We had an incredible time welcoming students from Palm Beach Lakes High School to our facility on Wednesday! 🎉

It was a pleasure sharing more information about our program and giving these future professionals a behind-the-scenes look at the opportunities within our industry. We love being able to connect with students, spark curiosity, and help inspire the next generation as they explore possible career paths.

Thank you to the students and staff from Palm Beach Lakes High School for spending time with us—we truly enjoyed having you and hope to see many of you again in the future! 👏
