It’s been a minute since I’ve been on here. 2022 was soooo hard mentally for me with my business. There were so many hidden struggles that I didn’t know how to share and so many times I didn’t know what my next steps would be.

I think the biggest thing I could have done, was to take several steps back, reassess priorities, pivot where needed, and remember my why.

I still might be on the quieter end on my business pages, but I don’t want to post things just to get your attention and fill your newsfeed with pointless crap.

I want to post about the things that I’m doing that bring me joy, and that are happening with Wild Orchid Media and Wild Orchid Bo***ir. I’m here to simplify, not over complicate things.

So, I figured we’d start with some simple ways to get into the New Year that aren’t so “resolution-y”.

Here are 23 things to make 2023 your year:

• Work out to feel good, not be thinner.
• Stop gossiping. Don't be that person. Spread positivity.
• Give one compliment a day.
• Read a book a month.
• Go someplace you've never been.
• Turn off your phone one night a week.
• Volunteer.
• Travel on a small budget.
• Write down one thing you're grateful for every night.
• Drink more water.
• Talk to yourself with kindness.
• Try a totally new restaurant.
• Travel somewhere without posting about it on social media.
• Bring a plant into your home.
• Send handwritten letters.
• Travel somewhere with no map.
• Wear sunscreen.
• Make Your Bed Every Morning.
• Try Guided Meditation.
• Stretch It Out.
• Avoid people who complain a lot.
• Donate clothes you never wear.
• Let go of grudges.

To all of my Jewish friends, Happy Hanukkah!

As I lay here in bed, the only one awake, my mind is going a million miles an hour.

A new decade of life.

To some, it’s just another day. To others, 40 is no big deal. To me? It feels like a fresh start.

I looked back in my memories earlier and saw my post when I turned 30. I remember where I was. I remember feeling like maybe I was crawling out of a bad decade into a good one. Life isn’t measured in decades, but to me, it almost felt like New Year’s Day.

Little did I know what my 30’s would bring me.

But - I’m taking only the good things with me into my 40’s. Am I where I wanted to be by my 40th? Did I lose the 40lbs I challenged myself to lose by my 40th? I wish, but no. Is my business thriving like it used to and like I thought it would since moving here? Not even close. But am I happier than I’ve been in decades? Am I loving this season of motherhood and everything it brings? Am I living in paradise with the world at my fingertips and with the most unconditional love I’ve ever known? You better believe it.

So while it may be just another Saturday to most, to me, it’s a fresh start. A New Year, so to say. I’m so ready to take on this decade and see what it teaches me.

Below are 10 of 40 images from my self portrait session. Most were taken by me, but a few, Baileigh snapped and I couldn’t be more honored to teach her how to do it. She helped me cull and eliminate almost 30 photos that didn’t make the cut from my first cull. She encouraged me to take the “movement” shots. To really make them my own. To show life in all of its messy glory! ♥️

If you don’t know the reason I chose “Wild Orchid” for my Bo***ir and Media Business…it’s because of this right here.

I do NOT have a green thumb. I’ve killed a succulent. But Orchids? Especially when they’re growing wild in their natural environment, they are resilient and beautiful.

We attached these to our tree several months ago. They were beautiful and delicate and strategically curated and taken care of. I had high hopes that we wouldn’t mess them up. We had watched YouTube tutorials for how to attach them, after all. 😉

But we’ve had storms, even a couple of hurricanes. Time passed and the beautiful petals disappeared, leaving behind wilted leaves and bare stems…or so we thought.

We noticed a few days ago that they were starting to bud, and now? They’re blooming again.

Just like in life - you may do everything right to have your life exactly like you dreamed. You can curate it with beautiful packaging or a support system that looks unbreakable. But then storms come. Some stronger than others. You weather storms. You go through the unexpected things that you think will break you and then…You grow.

You find that inner fight to push through and come back. You attach your roots even stronger, you take your time, and when the moment is right, you come back.

We are all like the Wild Orchid - delicate and beautiful - yet strong and resilient and ready to handle any weather that comes our way. ♥️
